Hadn’t really thought about it but they’re coming to stay for a week, someone at work said they wouldn’t let them stay!! Just wondering others thoughts?

Are you vaccinated?

If so, why would you give a shit?

Vaccinated people are disproportionately infected with Omicron right now.

UserThenLotsOfNumbers · 17/01/2022 20:44

I think it's fine provided you're vaccinated.

SlyAvocado · 17/01/2022 20:44

It’s their lookout, not yours.

BlueSky8 · 17/01/2022 20:44

Doesn't make a difference if they aren't.

If your vaccinated, it's fine.

Tiredhungrybored · 17/01/2022 20:46

Ye were all done so no worries!!

I assume you're jabbed? Totally illogical. I can't believe actual grown up humans are thinking like this. Mind boggling!

caz198917 · 17/01/2022 20:48

The 'Someone at work' is bonkers. Being unvaccinated doesn't mean they are any threat to you. Anyone can still catch it and pass it on. Everyone I know who is vaccinated has caught it.

ASimpleLobsterHat · 17/01/2022 20:48

Wouldn’t bother me in the slightest. What might bother me is how careful the people are generally, but tbh I’ve had covid once in December and was fine with it. I suspect I’ll get it again soon as I don’t think I had omicron, but I’m not going to put my life on hold to avoid it.

I did think this but wondered if I’d missed something 😂😂

It's actually quite worrying how people think. Almost like people are lepers if unvaccinated, I am fully vaccinated but wouldn't look down or treat someone different if they were not
Pootle40 · 17/01/2022 21:03

Wouldn't cross my mind.

Blubells · 17/01/2022 21:59

They're no threat to you at all! Of course they should be allowed to stay.

Why are you so rude all the time?

As for the amount of vaccinated people infected with Omicron being disproportionate, have a think about why this might be. It isn't difficult.

Dishhh · 18/01/2022 02:55

My only concern with this is infected unvaccinated people carry higher viral loads and have the capacity to spread the infection to exponentially more others than an infected vaccinated person.

How are you privy to this kind of information anyway?

FromEden · 18/01/2022 03:40

This is outdated info at this stage. There is no evidence that this is the case with Omicron, and it's true that the vaccinated are more likely to become infected now.

FromEden · 18/01/2022 03:42

The case rate per 100,000 is a lot higher in vaccinated people, its not just a bigger number of infections which obviously is to be expected

But ... answering the question, why is that? If you have a majority of the population vaccinated, of course the majority of the caseload will consist of vaccinated people.

If it's a rate per 100k then of course the differing sizes of the two groups have already been accounted for.

This 100%
FromEden · 18/01/2022 07:33

The percentage of cases in vaccinated people exceeds the percentage of fully vaccinated people in many cases. For example in Scotland, with with 72% vaccination rate, more than 85% of the cases are from that group. The 28% unvaccinated population account for just 14% of the cases. If the vaccine was doing anything to stop transmission then that wouldn't be the case would it? The rate of cases per capita is higher in the fully vaccinated, not just the actual number

Nerdygirl · 18/01/2022 08:24

Thanks for sharing @FromEden . There is a lot of incorrect perception around the unvaccinated and this treating of them as second class citizens is frankly frightening

TheNoonBell · 18/01/2022 09:43

We have plenty of visitors to our home jabbed and unjabbed. We don't ask them if they are but it usually comes up in conversation.

It is amusing when some jabbed friends find out I am not jabbed whilst we sit together in the living room.

Could that be anything to do with double-vaccinations waning? This has been an issue in my country.

LadyCleathStuart · 18/01/2022 10:24

I always assume that non vaccinated people are more at risk from triple jabbed me than I am from them given that I am apparently less likely to catch it and if I do catch it less likely to be ill.

If that is true then why should I fear someone who isn't vaccinated?

BertieQueen · 18/01/2022 11:26

Why did you tell a colleague at work that you were having visitors who were not vaccinated in the first place?
