Any way to get vaccine pass faster?

A friend is supposed to be coming to visit us tomorrow (in EU country) and although she was told her vaccine pass would update they’re now saying the 21st.

She’s had three doses and had COVID. Is there anything she can do? Or is the trip off?

Is she travelling from the uk and had a positive pcr ? If so, what was the date of the test ? She should get her travel pass back on day 10. If she is past that point she needs to call 119 and NHS digital.

QuentininQuarantino · 17/01/2022 10:45

Yes she’s in the uk and reported all her tests, the last positive one was 10th and they told her today when she called 119 that it’s 10 days from then.
She’s kicking herself for following the rules.
I’m not sure - EU vaccine passes don’t expire - could a doctor write her a note or something?

I understood the isolation point to be much shorter than that so don’t really understand why they have to wait so long for the certificate, especially if needed for work or something?

What is the date 10 days after her first PCR ? (I am not talking about lateral flow tests)

QuentininQuarantino · 17/01/2022 10:49

It was 7th I think, we were expecting it to be updated today. But when she called they said 21st…

“Isolation” and travel passes are often different dates entirely. Your vaccination pass for travel is reinstated 10 days after your PCR

AnyFucker · 17/01/2022 10:51

Am not sure what is happening then. If she has been recording ongoing positive lateral flows since then she has probably messed up the dates, sorry.

QuentininQuarantino · 17/01/2022 10:54

That’s what we had hoped but 119 said 21st as that was 10 days after her last reported LFT test. She had expected it today as 10 days after her PCR. But if it isn’t there and 119 say no then I suppose we’re stuck. She’s annoyed as she’s lost a holiday and I’m annoyed as I’m not going on a wine tasting weekend alone (too late to cancel) which will be miserable and I really miss her.

Argh Fuck Covid and Fuck Brexit for giving the UK 3rd country status so she can’t just do a negative test AngrySad

I know. It is shit. Hindsight is a wonderful thing of course but she should have stopped reporting any tests after the 1st PCR.

QuentininQuarantino · 17/01/2022 10:58

Yes she will know for next time. She’s a bit of a rule stickler/instruction follower. It’s awful that she did the right thing and is losing out. It does sting!

SO she has been reporting positive LFTs since her PCR? Why did she report them she is in the system then as the PCR and she shouldn't then be testing until day 5 and 6 (or for her 6 and 7)

What are the rules for entry for the country you are in - PCR or LFT? And is she still positive on LFT?

AnyFucker · 17/01/2022 11:01

Yeah, it sucks. Although there is no compulsion to continue to record LFTs after your 1st positive test. You are classed as recovered and can travel (in my case I hopefully will manage travel to Spain who stipulate 14 days clear of a positive test, so it does also depend on which country you plan to visit)

QuentininQuarantino · 17/01/2022 11:07

You have to be vaccinated to enter this country (flying to spain) and she doesn’t have the certificate. Unfortunately you can’t do a pre travel PCR as an alternative.

Yes, why did she keep reporting them!!! I don’t know, I think she thought she had to.

Quartz2208 · 17/01/2022 11:10

Aah so it has been removed due to her COVID and it should have been put back to the PCR dates.

That makes sense. Yes I think it is just one of those things that because she last inputted one you cannot override

Can you move it?

QuentininQuarantino · 17/01/2022 11:15

Yes that’s it, sorry, I was confused by it too because the EU ones don’t expire, they have the dates of the vaccines on and there’s expiry on the vaccines but the certificates themselves are always there, so I had no idea this would be a problem. We were saying when she got COVID (on 4/1) how lucky she’s been with timings as it was still ages until our big trip.

We can’t cancel either as it’s within 48 hours of our trip so we both paid in full. I’ll still go.. just urgh.

UK ones are too they are just suspended - that said it can be for 18 days.

Its a shame she doesnt have a hard copy then (I do that I use) and a copy of the date that she was positive. But yes her online version wont come back

QuentininQuarantino · 17/01/2022 11:33

@Quartz2208 She does actually have a pdf copy - is that good enough? Even if it was generated over 30 days ago?

OP posts:
QuentininQuarantino · 17/01/2022 11:34

It says on it “to protect your privacy the 2D barcode expires every 30 days…” and was generated 10/12..

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 17/01/2022 12:56

It is expired so she cannot use it

EileenGC · 17/01/2022 13:23

Well, it depends. Will they actually scan the QR code? Or just look at it and wave you through to the plane?

I’m in Germany and I’ve flown dozens of times since the summer. Nobody scans your QR code to enter the country (or leave the previous one). They just look at the date of your vaccines and that your name matches your passport.

The QR code is scanned for entry to restaurants, museums, concerts etc though. But if you’re going somewhere that doesn’t physically scan the codes, she doesn’t need it to be ‘valid’.
