Long Covid

Just wondering if anyone has developed Long Covid after a recent infection? I tested positive for Covid 4 weeks ago, completed a 10 day isolation period where I felt quite poorly for the first three days but recovered with more or less mild symptoms. I went back to work a week later feeling slightly tired but fine, resumed my normal activities. Then, all of a sudden last week I just came down with the most crippling fatigue ever. Dizziness, headaches, brain fog, muscle aches etc. I was sent home from work and have been pretty much sleeping/resting ever since - some days are worse than others. Does this sound like Long Covid? Or am I still classed as in the recovery phase? Please tell me it'll get better!

I think Long Covid is diagnosed after 3 months. However, I would say that 4 weeks isn't long and paramedics told me to expect to be ill and take it very gently for a month. You have probably done too much too quickly, which is a bit of a warning sign. You really need to rest as much as possible. I did too much last week (exactly four weeks after my infection)... and am paying for it this weekend.

Thanks @BigotSpigot - I'm sorry to hear you needed paramedics. Were you particularly poorly? I would say my case was overall mild but the symptoms afterwards have been much worse than the initial illness. Do you feel better now?

I have some other issues so knew I might feel really ill. I didn't have any lung or breathing symptoms at all, or a runny nose or sore throat, mostly neurological issues. I didn't end up in hospital so still 'mild' but I really felt dreadful for a good two weeks, severe headaches that came on in week three for a week and then another week very wobbly. Felt great last week but overdid it so back in bed today but just need the rest I think.

Me. I had covid last summer, I was recovering slowly but then 3 weeks later caught a cold which floored me and I had months of fatigue, muscle aches and changes in smell. I was signed off work for 8 weeks in total, should have had another 4 off but I felt bad. Only just feeling like me again. It felt like the cold triggered the long covid symptoms, very rubbish. Take it easy and slow and really be kind to yourself.

How are you now @rosabright?

I had Covid (Delta) last summer and had to be put on a ventilator (induced coma) for 2 weeks. My lungs are apparently still not clear, I've got to have a CT scan tomorrow and then the hospital will say what treatment is needed.

It will be three weeks since I tested positive, I have started with lower back pain (sciatica) and leg pain not sure if this is an after symptom.

I have your symptoms exactly and wondered if you have completely recovered or not? I had covid in October 2021, got better, and then the fatigue set in. I've been on and off unwell ever since between weeks of being OK. Recently, I had two viruses, which knocked me right back and now chronically exhausted, headaches and shoulder/ neck pain really bad.

@CoQ10 It's rubbish isn't it, interesting that we had a similar experience. The fatigue was the worst thing and to be honest it's only in recent months that I've been feeling better. I still get aching legs when I am tired though. It's a kind of whole body chronic tiredness that just doesn't go. Thankfully it's not been so bad that I'm housebound or anything but I have had to pace myself so I can do the things I want to do. I hope it all resolves for you soon.

Yes it is.
Have you done anything with diet or lifestyle to improve things at all?
I'm also not housebound but the first week of our summer holiday in France this summer I was bed bound for most of it. My poor kids had to look after themselves for much of it. Luckily I'm a lot better now but it is really up and down.
Glad you seem to be on the mend.

Oh gosh, that sounds hard, you sound far worse than me. I can just crack in and then flop in the evening. Lifestyle wise then I haven't done anything other than trying to loose 1 and a half stone that I put on over covid and we have a dog so she needs decent walks everyday.
I hope you carry on getting better.
