Covid positive - when to stop isolating?

RainbowBriteUk · 15/01/2022 15:51

If someone has tested positive and has been in isolation for over 7 days so far when can they leave the house again?

Lateral flow tests are still showing as positive.

I don't know anymore it's got so confusing! I think you have to wait for 2 negative lfts 1 day apart or 10 days

Darbs76 · 15/01/2022 15:55

Up until day 10 if positive

Hello @RainbowBriteUk - we are moving this over to the Coronavirus topic.

ghostyslovesheets · 15/01/2022 15:56

10 days OR 2 negative tests on consecutive days taken 24 hrs apart after day 6

I tested negative days 7 and 8 so we able to leave the house then

Heartofglass12345 · 15/01/2022 15:57

If you have a negative lateral flow test on day 6 and 7 you can stop isolating but if they are positive you have to carry on. I'm assuming if you had negatives on day 8&9 you could finish isolation though

Angel2702 · 15/01/2022 15:57

Midnight of day 10 unless you get two negative tests 24 hrs apart. Day 1 being day after the positive test.

RainbowBriteUk · 15/01/2022 16:02

Thank you everyone. You're all wonderful!

So, if you are still testing positive on day 10 isolation still ends?

Angel2702 · 16/01/2022 11:39

@Undervaluedandsad

So, if you are still testing positive on day 10 isolation still ends?
Yes at midnight day ten isolation ends regardless and you are free on day 11.
Fallagain · 16/01/2022 12:24

The day you test positive/start symptoms is day 0 and you are free to leave isolation on day 11.

Undervaluedandsad · 16/01/2022 12:58

Thank you.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 16/01/2022 13:09

Plan for 10 days with day 1 being the day after positive test/symptoms starting.

If you're lucky then on day 5 and the morning of day 6 you'll get negative tests and can go out straight after your day 6 test. You need 2 consecutive days of tests to be released from isolation.

Day 10 is the last day regardless of what LFTs say though and you can go out from day 11 even if you're still testing positive.

So

Day 0 - positive test or start of symptoms - isolate
Day 1 - isolate
Day 2 - isolate
Day 3 - isolate
Day 4 - isolate
Day 5 - do a lateral flow, if negative then plan for doing another test the next morning and hope for another negative which means you're free
Day 6 - LFT if negative you can go out, if not you need to keep isolating.

Unless you are still running temperature, in which case you stag on until it settles, even if it's longer than 10days (other symptoms don't count for that)

Undervaluedandsad · 16/01/2022 13:44

Thank you. Still testing positive but should end isolation on Tuesday as no temperature.

RevolvingPivot · 16/01/2022 16:27

I stupidly pressed positive instead of negative. I've tried to get out of isolating. They want a list of contacts but I said I'm negative. If I didn't want them to know I was positive I wouldn't have entered the result. This was Friday. I have to take a rest Thursday and Friday then I can go out if it's negative.!

CA0932017 · 16/01/2022 17:20

After 10 days if line still showing up. Can still leave isolation even if you have a line at day 10+
