BREAKING : France reopens to the UK - what are the new travel/vaccine rules?

Hi,

So we were supposed to be going to Paris in the Easter holidays, just for a couple of nights. We have a room booked, but with free cancellation, but because of the ban on non essential UK travellers in December, we decided to hold that, but not book travel arrangements. Assumed it would all be off tbh.

Anyway, it looks like this could now go ahead, but I have a question about vaccinations....

Dp and I are both triple jabbed and dd (15) will be double jabbed by that point. Is this now not considered "fully" vaccinated? I hear that everyone will still need to do a pre departure test, regardless of vaccination status, but is my dd classed as unvaccinated because she won't have had the third jab? I know that's not being offered yet anyway. I'm just confused.

Can anyone shed any light?

TIA

I don't know about France but all the other countries I know of expecting full vaccination means two jabs.

Austria needs the booster. But I don’t know any other countries that do.

They also have an expiry date of 6 months on vaccinations. So my June vaccination is now out of date.

I don’t think France will be as strict as this but worth checking.

Delatron · 13/01/2022 15:42

But for 12-15 2 vaccines is ok so I can’t think any country would need children to have more than 2.

The Disneyland Paris group on facebook seem quite up to date with the rules, they were saying that 2 jabs is ok as long as your second was within the last 4 months, (I think it might be 6 months at the moment but due to be reduced to 4 imminently) if it was longer than 4 months ago then a booster is needed. I think this is for anyone over 12.

We’re due to go to France in July/August and 2 of mine are due their second vaccine when at the end of the month.

If England doesn’t offer booster to 12-15 yr olds then mine would be classed as unvaxxed.

Can’t decide if it’s a stupid idea to delay their second vaccine for the sake of a holiday…

www.politico.eu/article/commission-sets-9-month-duration-for-vaccine-certificates-from-february-1/amp/ This article suggests that vaccine passports for EU travel will only be valid for 9 months from second dose. Not sure of the implications of it for U.K. travellers, but worth bearing in mind. I am hoping there's more clarity soon as I am meant to be going to a wedding in an EU location in august and I had my last jab in July (not had booster yet).

Hi. I am in France and the third dose is only available to over 18s and 12 -17 year olds with certain health problems.

Are children under 12 expected to be vaccinated? Clearly would be a problem as we are but vaccinating them…

Elieza · 13/01/2022 18:11

My friends going to the south of France for six months but is unvaccinated. Is it likely that, if adults will be able travel to France in a few weeks time, they can isolate or whatever if they are unvaccinated? Or do tests at the border or whatever?

What’s the position re going into food shops or toilets en route to the villa (travelling by car, toilets at service stations) ? Thanks

Hi. Just wondered if anyone had any view on what the new French rules will mean for those 12-17 who have only had one vaccine due to the second being delayed as they’ve had covid (and have a 12 week wait for second dose). Searched high and low and can’t find an answer….thanks

Delatron · 13/01/2022 18:57

I think the French rules are the French rules and don’t take in to account our vaccination schedule. Most other countries had a less gap between doses. And even after Covid.

DP is going to France next week skiing. From what I can gather - booster is only needed if need to go to restaurants, museums etc. He read that second dose had to be within 7 months or he wasn't considered fully vaccinated? I read yesterday that Scotland are reducing this to 4 months ie/ if your 2nd dose was more than 4 months ago and you haven't had the booster then you aren't fully vaxxed.
