Should I delay booster after infection?

Hi all. I had Covid before Christmas, which meant I didn't go for my booster vaccine at the time. Advice is to then wait at least 28 days after infection to get a booster, however I was wondering how useful this is? Would it be better to wait until 2 months after? 3 months after? Is there an opportune time? I've looked for advice on this but there doesn't seem to be any. Anyone had the same situation and found out anything useful? I want to highlight that I am not considering avoiding the booster altogether, I just want to understand what is the most useful action to take in terms of timing. Any thoughts/advice appreciated.

Have an antibody test and make a decision based on that?

For children 12-15 they have to wait 12 weeks after covid before they can have a vaccine to reduce chance of heart inflammation. If I was you I would wait 12 weeks but there is no scientific evidence behind my suggestion. Just if they can wait 12 weeks presumably without concern for reinfection than I am guessing other age groups could too.

Official advice is to get the booster as soon as you're able. I had mine at 29 days after having Covid. I don't know if there is any benefit to be gained from delaying - I appreciate the thinking is that a natural infection has given you a boost already, but I've seen nothing to suggest its better to delay the booster.

I took an antibody test when infected previously about 9 months after infection and it was positive, but it came with the advice that there's no measure of how immune you still are even if showing antibodies. So I'd expect 4 weeks later to show antibodies.

@ittakes2 I'd not seen that about 12-15 year old, that's really interesting thank you. I'll read up on it.

@Giveaschitt My issue with the advice though is that it's advice to protect from Omicron, and I've just had that! I suppose my thoughts are about having a vaccine that offers finite protection, and if there's a better time to have it to benefit from stronger protection going forward. Maybe I'm overthinking it, but would be good to know.

I was told to wait 28 days after testing positive.
My friend at a different clinic was told the same after she went for her booster 2 weeks after having covid . They also told her to wait 28 days
