Family of 4, all tested positive 4 days ago. Kids age 11 and 8 now completely better. DH very tired but managing to WFH. I'm a few days behind them and have horrible flu like symptoms.

This morning I woke up at 9am aching and feeling g like I'd been run over. Went downstairs and kids had made themselves breakfast but kitchen was revolting. Dishwasher needed salt and rinse aid. So I sorted that, cleaned kitchen and fed pets. Had to go back to bed for an hour before I could manage washing my face and brushing my teeth.

Tips welcome please. I'm happy to leave dust and messy floors. We are all in PJs which saves washing. DD has been given the task of making toasties for everyone for lunch. DS is helping me clean out the rabbits later and DH is making dinner.

Actually @LongCovidLifeChange I've had ME in the past and was quite ill with it. I had to leave my job and things were quite uncertain financially for some time.

So I do understand long term fatigue. I'm just trying to talk this situation through as I have terrible brain fog and know others might have similar symptoms.

Hope you are OK and I'm sorry you have long covid, you have my sympathies.

@Gimlisaxe
I had the opposite reaction when I asked DS19 to tidy his - usually he protests, he just agreed! 🤣

Toasties made by a messy 11 year old? Kitchen will be carnage.

Everyone need to be on board OP. No way would I have tidied up if the children had left the kitchen like that. You call them in and the three of you do it.

@Invasionofthegutsnatchers

Ah so you get it.
Sorry for the bitter tone. I’m still hoping to get some of my normal life back, preferably before going bankrupt and lots of other horrid consequences for my marriage, children, etc.

The fact you say you HAD ME in the past gives me hope Smile.

Hope you ride this infection out healthily.

But even if the OP hadn’t had ME

Fatigue is a symptom of covid and she was asking for help

And you jumped at her

Any chance in the slightest you want to swap?

I have a good 75p in the bank and he does like hoovering

Gimlisaxe · 14/01/2022 08:37

And to give slightly more hope as I think I am slightly ahead of you, if we all have the same covid and react the same

This morning, have woken up, not dizzy or feel like my legs are going to give away and about to try and start on the cleaning again, after yesterday not going to try and do too much too soon. But hopefully this is the light at the end of a short tunnel

However DP has now also tested positive, so that is the household now out and we are confused by the rules and how long and what, where, when and how as they have changed twice since DS started his isolation.

It is really important to pace yourself, do not think that just because you are feeling ok today that you can blitz the house to catch up. Do enough so everyone is clean and fed and then a couple of extra bits.

(This is just a general point, not aimed necessarily at the OP)

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 14/01/2022 08:56

Hugs to everyone. Fatigue is horrible whatever the cause.

I just woke up and was able to make a cuppa and porridge then make toast for DS before coming back to bed. So a little bit of progress.

It is definitely important to stop activity before you run out of energy. Go back to lie down. Then after 30 mins or an hour do another small thing.

I need to change my bed today and I know from the past that this will cost a lot of energy so I will do it in stages

Pillow cases first, then bottom sheet, then duvet cover, then actually wash the bedding. Resting in between.

@Invasionofthegutsnatchers
Bedding like that is my plan of action today as well.

Day 5 today (got my days wrong the other day - brain fog). DH and DS22 just feeling like they’ve got a head cold and very tired. I’m not coughing as much, still no smell/taste and still aching/headache/exhausted. DS19 only a bit improved (he’s had it worst), says he feels like he’s been run over by a bus, but has slept better last night. Can’t see any of us testing negative on day 6 tomorrow, but we’ll see.

Hope everyone else is feeling a little improvement x

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 14/01/2022 09:14

My right eyelid is twitching like mad and driving me insane today. Argh

How is everyone doing today? I felt a tiny bit better this morning so made cupcakes with DS but have been paying for it since. No energy and I feel a but depressed too.
