Is there anything going on with covid?

I've just been called to say that I have to wfh for the foreseeable. I was at home in lockdown. Usually work public facing (police staff) but plenty to do without having to go in. But no explanation given.

I know rates are rising here in the West Midlands but is it really that bad? Has there been an announcement? I haven't been keeping current with the news lately as I'm spending my leave chilling away from the world.

Maybe ask on the Coronavirus board.

You'll definitely get a sensible answer there.

Last week all the cinemas were "in the know" and cancelling screenings after a certain date except that they weren't doing anything of the sort

We've moved this to the Coronavirus topic now, as requested, OP. Hope that helps!

Nothing new. I thought WFH was the current rules anyway?

Bobholll · 12/01/2022 18:19

WFH was brought back in before Christmas 🤷🏼‍♀️ Is your boss just really behind & realised you should all be at home?

Broskerempter · 12/01/2022 18:32

I'm not sure, but I'm West Midlands and it feels like cases are increasing.

Yesterday there were 2 kids off in my class with covid and today there are 7 confirmed cases. In another year group, they've reached 19 positive cases amongst the children. This is in addition to lots of cases dotted around the school. 12 staff currently off and some feeling quite ill too 😞.

There are an estimated 4.3 million people with covid nationwide, or 1 in 15 people, as of last week, up on 3.7 million the previous week, according to ONS.

I'm nhs, we're just doing what we've been doing since the start

merrygoround23 · 12/01/2022 18:44

We've had community staff seconded into wards due to staff shortages but that's all

Blubells · 12/01/2022 19:11

In London cases are falling steeply!

TulipsGarden · 12/01/2022 19:13

It's moving up the country, so London rates are falling but Midlands and northern rates are rising. And there's a lot of it about.

Needcoffeecoffeecoffee · 12/01/2022 19:14

It was wfh before christmas. Perhaps your work has tightened up as they are worried about staffing and continuity if lots of staff are all off sick together as is happening in lots of workplaces

Geom372 · 12/01/2022 19:14

I'm nhs in Shropshire and we've been told that the area is expecting a large spike in cases due from next week.
