Will Covid ever be like a normal illness?

Where we don't need to test if we think we may have it and you have no idea if it's a regular cold or Covid? Where you go into work if you just have a sniffle / mild illness rather than staying at home for any period of time?

Yes, of course. Rules and restrictions are all heading that way slowly.
I don’t think self-isolation for symptomatic positive cases will be dropped soon, but I think it will in the end.

x2boys · 12/01/2022 08:39

If you look how far we have come in the last two years,we have barely any restrictions ,now ,I think testing will continue for the time being but at some point it will just be a normal virus and we won't be in a pandemic anymore.

LublinToDublin · 12/01/2022 08:40

Yes

Bagelsandbrie · 12/01/2022 08:41

I think it’s already become that way in many areas now. People aren’t testing so much anymore.

Flaxmeadow · 12/01/2022 10:18

I don't think enough is known for certain yet about the long term effects of being infected/repeatedly infected.

Topseyt · 12/01/2022 10:27

Yes. It will. The current situation is unsustainable anyway.

FourTeaFallOut · 12/01/2022 10:29

Yes. I expect so. It's going in that direction.

Xyzzzzz · 12/01/2022 10:31

I hope so

ApolloandDaphne · 12/01/2022 10:38

Yes it will.

Blubells · 12/01/2022 10:40

Yes absolutely.

I expect tests and the need to isolate will soon be abolished.

Blubells · 12/01/2022 10:43

Vaccines and natural immunity have given us a huge amount of protection.

We've got to look at the costs and benefits of any restrictions on our lives.

Angel2702 · 12/01/2022 10:49

Yes plans were for this process to begin from April before omicron hit, removing LFT for asymptomatic people being the first step.

LindaEllen · 12/01/2022 10:56

Yes, if only because the tests are costing a fortune and we all know money comes first.

TheKeatingFive · 12/01/2022 11:12

Of course. I don't think we're too far off that point either.

MrsSkylerWhite · 12/01/2022 11:14

Yes, historically viruses tend to become weaker as they mutate. They need hosts to survive and don’t want to kill them.
