Should I be testing her regularly in this situation.

Dd had covid a little under a month ago. She had no symptoms, we all had it. Assume omicron based on the rest of our symptoms but who knows.

Anyway, outbreak in her class. Over half of them have it. I did an lft on her which was negative (but I know that it could be negative one day and positive the next or it could pick up old infection!)

Because she's had covid so recently should I be testing her daily for covid on lft as many parents are doing or just be vigilant and look out for symptoms? Even though she didn't have any symptoms when she had it.

If she didn't have covid so recently I would be testing her.

The school has not asked parents to test at all, not even suggested it but people are...

I’m curious about the too. DS14 had covid in October less than 3 months ago and has now got it again (confirmed pcr, we only tested on lft because he had a cough and was sneezing a lot). He has had negative lft’s previously when he tested after having symptoms too so I knew it was unlikely to be picking up the old infection.

But his brothers and sister had covid 3 weeks ago and I’m not sure if they should take daily tests or not. If DS14 has omicron then they’re likely to catch it again but we don’t know what variant he has. Common sense tells me not to test unless they have symptoms but the texts from test and trace have said they should be testing a day and doesn’t mention anything about previous covid. I have also tried to find the answer online but can’t.

@GypsyWanderer.. I spoke to a gp today (not about this actually situation but I dropped it in!) I told her my kids had covid 3/4 weeks ago and now an outbreak in their classes. I was told unlikely to catch it again but who knows.

The vast majority of my youngest class has it now. She's one of the last not too get it. She is okay with testing though - I have done lft's on her despite being within 90 days!

It’s hard to know especially if it’s a different variant! I don’t want to test and it’s positive because it’s picked up an old infection and they miss even more of school

In your situation I would assume your child was one of the first and has probably started the spread rather than May catch it again so wouldn't be lft in case it picks up the old infection

Not at all... both of them had covid before Christmas. They hadn't been in for several days prior to testing positive as me and dp had it so hadn't taken it into the school! Ds tested positive 5 days after me & Dp and Dd 7 days and they hadn't been in school after we got it. They were off school from the 3rd December til January!! This is not on us 🤦‍♀️

They were both out of isolation by Christmas Eve (full 10 days as new rules hadn't come in til just before their isolation ended!). It was a week+ Gap between isolation ending and going back to school after Christmas!

The outbreak in their class js not caused by two children that hadn't been in school for a month! 🤦‍♀️
