Don’t overthink it. You need to have it.

Twizbe · 10/01/2022 06:54

Have it.

I'm sorry for your miscarriage, but it wasn't down to the vaccine. Miscarriages happen for so many reasons usually because there was something wrong with that embryo. It wasn't your fault.

The vaccine is safe for pregnant women and much much safer than catching covid while pregnant.

I’ve had MC before and I think it’s tempting to always want to pin it on something.. and I think for all of us, there is almost always something you could find to pin it on (incorrectly) - I shouldn’t have gone for that run, I shouldn’t have had a drink of coffee, I shouldn’t have put myself under stress at work, I shouldn’t have had that sushi.. The vast majority of MC are due to chromosomal abnormalities and there is nothing you could ever have done.

I would take the second one. I am not the most fervent vaxxer, at least compared to half of MN, I don’t believe in mandatory vaccination for instance and I believe that being unvaccinated doesn’t make you automatically an “anti-vaxxer” but I think the evidence on the vaccine with fertility is clear.. there is no change in the miscarriage rate associated with vaccination. It’s also very clear that unvaccinated pregnant women, especially in third trimester, are at serious risk of Covid.

I would take the vaccine, in doing so eradicate any stress at losing your NHS job, and take a positive health decision for your baby.

1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage. I am sorry for your loss but most miscarriages are due to a abnormal embryo so it has nothing to do with the vaccine.

I would be even more keen to be vaccinated in pregnancy given you work in the NHS as you’re more likely than someone say working from home to catch it. There is some very harrowing information out there about covid and pregnancy - especially in the third trimester.

This. Please get your vaccine.

Goodness, please get the vaccine. There are so many unvaccinated pregnant women in hospital at the moment.

I lost three pregnancies before this one so was anxious, but studies have shown no increased risk of miscarriage associated with the vaccine. I had my booster at 16 weeks, have had my flu vaccine and am having my whooping cough vaccine this week.

From RCOG:
"Research from 13 studies in five countries, involving more than 100,000 people vaccinated in pregnancy, shows having the vaccine does not increase the risk of miscarriage, preterm birth or stillbirth. Nor does it increase the risk of a small-for-gestational age baby, or the risk of congenital anomalies."

The risks of covid especially in later pregnancy are significant if you are not vaccinated. The attached infographic gives an outline of those risks.

Thank you for all your advice guys I'm gonna go for it. Thewhatsit I think you've hit the nail on the head there, I've had 2 MC and yes I do try and blame it on something when really there's nothing anyone could have done. Thank you for taking time out of your day to reply everyone, appreciate it!! X
