A friend that was at my flat on friday has just tested positive. Their boss text them saturday morning saying they had just tested positive. The friend unvaxinated then had to go straight into isolating, tested negative saturday morning and sunday morning but then annother person from their work tested positive this evening so friend did annother test this evening and it come back positive.

Im freaking out, the friend came round friday evening and helped me lots as im exhasted from looking after my 14 month old and beeing 13 weeks pregnant. The friend fed, bathed and gave a bottle to my LO and put him to bed. Friend then did the washing up to give me a hand. Friend sat on the sofa a hour watching tv with me then went home and has not been anywhere since so wouldnt have picked it up from anywhere else apart from work on friday before coming to mine.

I have done a lft this morning and its negative and annother this evening and its negative again. I am double jabbed so legaly i can carry on as normal im just worrying about testing positive later on in the week and potentaly spreading it.

How long does covid last on surfaces? My sister is saying i need to deep clean my whole flat every surface but i just dont have the energy.

Ive got a hospital appointment for blood tests and flu jab tomorow, shall i cancel to be on the safe side of not wanting to spread it to a hospital

LO is going to grandparents for a few hours whilst im at work tuesday, shall i arrange diffrent childcare to not put them at potential risk? I have done tests on LO but he does wiggle lots and its quite difficult to test a 14 month old so i worry the test is not accurate.

No surfaces aren't really a risk of transmission. You're better to air all your rooms thoroughly instead.

And no I wouldn't cancel any appointments on the off chance you catch it

DD has just tested positive on a lf no symptoms. I'm assuming she still needs a pcr? When do the rules change? Thank you

Sorry should have started a new thread

Apparently it changes on 11th so she should still have a follow up PCR if you are able to

How old are the grandparents and do they have any health vulnerabilities? Do they have much contact with other people apart from your DC? If grandparents are vulnerable and making a concerted effort to limit their contacts, that might be the one aspect of your plans that is worth changing. I think deep cleaning the flat would be a waste of time. The general consensus now seems to be that almost all transmission is airborne.

@LilyPond2 Grandparents are 80, my nan loves having LO, she picks him up from nursery 3 hours before i finish work so dosent have him for long periods of time, my nan is concious of covid but still goes out and does things, wears a mask constantly and dosent do anything that includes lots of people, where as my grandad only goes out for dog walks, avoids people and hasant been in a shop since before the pandemic as he is so paranoid, he did come allong to a small family gathering over christmas and happliy has family come round to his house but stresses to my nan the risks of leaving the house everytime she leaves as she moans about it, he may even turn arround and say he dosent want to risk seeing us for a week which i would understand and respect his decision

@WotsitMum I can see that's a tricky situation. I would suggest doing a LFT on yourself and your little one as close as possible to the time when you are due to drop him at grandparents. I've read some suggestion that swabbing throat as well as nose will show up a positive result earlier, so maybe do that when testing yourself. Also be aware that Omicron can seem like just a cold in some people, so I'd be wary of dropping LO at grandparents if you or he have a cold.

Given that there was a gap of about 48 hours between you seeing your friend and her testing positive, I don't see it as a foregone conclusion that you or your LO will have caught Covid from her.

My mum also tested positive today, she woke up with a sore throat, did a test and it was negative so went to work, developed a headache at work in the afternoon, came home and tested as soon as she got home at half 3 and it came up positive straight away! So thats double our risk of getting it now as we only saw my mum yestoday at a resturant for sunday lunch and she held my LO and i sat next to her😬 im just so worried beeing pregnant

I rang the hospital and they postponed my appointment to later in the week with the stress of i need to get the blood tests done sooner rather than later, they advised i test every day for the next week
