Booster: How long does immunity last?

I had Coronavirus in the first wave and was then double vaccinated. I assumed I'd get the booster when I could. However, I just contracted COVID again, before the booster could be scheduled.

I'm wondering if it's necessary to get the booster now if my natural immunity will give me similar protection for the same amount of time?

I'm more hesitant to blindly get the booster than I was to get the initial vaccines as I'm currently 8 weeks pregnant.

I'm well aware of increased risks to women (and baby) in their third trimester but don't want to get a booster next month if there's no additional benefit.

My thought process is that the booster may only offer 4 to 6 months of protection so maybe I should get in when I'm 5 or 6 months pregnant, meaning immunity will peak during last trimester?

I appreciate we don't have the data but would like to hear the input of others.

I'm getting the booster for practical reasons to be honest rather than health reasons. I think in the coming weeks we will only be recognised as "fully jabbed" if we have 3 vaccines and I can't afford to be isolating as a close contact. Something to consider - will your life be affected if you aren't considered fully vaccinated?

Good point.

As a SAHM and a husband who is an essential worker and gets paid time off, no, it wouldn't affect me much.

I have just have Covid and wanted to wait and make use of all my antibodies. However for practical reasons (need to travel next month) I have to get my booster next week. Bit annoyed about it really. I’ve only had a few weeks or so of feeling well. Really hoping for zero side effects from the booster.

In an ideal world I would have had it next summer/early autumn to give me a boost going in to winter.

I also had omicron I think, which protects against delta. If I’d have had delta I’d be having the booster ASAP.

Then in your case I would wait. I've delayed getting the booster myself until the end of the month but I work out of the home so I need to be fully vaccinated really for isolation purposes. I had my second vaccine in late September and still had antibodies at the end of December.
