Hi

My symptoms started on Thursday and I got a positive result from PCR today.

I've only got one kidney and I've got a dull ache coming and going from where my one kidney is.

Should I be concerned?

No one can tell you here - you need to call 111 are you classed as cv or cev?

djt87 · 08/01/2022 18:17

@dinahsdishes I'm classed as CV.

Hope you don’t mind me asking if you are classified as CV due to having only one kidney? I also only have one as the other one had to be troves following a major bleed.
Hope you feel better soon.

I think COVID or no COVID you should probably get medical advice if you have kidney pain in your situation

I'd give 111 a call (unless you have a renal nurse you can talk to?) and get some advice ASAP.

Hope all ok Flowers

Were you born with one or has one been removed?

djt87 · 08/01/2022 18:54

@CiderWithLizzie yes classed as CV. I was born with my left smaller than the right but was never picked up until I contracted E-coil when I was 7 then the E-coil shut my immune system down basically killed off the small kidney. They left it in for years until I started getting water/kidney infections once every two months and being constantly in hospital. They finally decided to remove it in 2018.

@leafyygreens yes I'm going to give them a call. I just don't want to waste anyones time knowing the pressures on the NHS at the moment.

Thank you Smile

Ok, then you are right to be concerned. I’ve been told it’s less of a risk if you always had one compared with having gone from two to one, which is why I asked.

Biscuitsandgravyagain · 09/01/2022 12:26

Interesting. I had a kidney removed a few years ago but haven't been told I'm more vulnerable. Were you notified via your GP?

djt87 · 09/01/2022 15:29

@Biscuitsandgravyagain hi, yes and also received letters throughout regarding shielding etc.
