One kidney with covid

Hi

My symptoms started on Thursday and I got a positive result from PCR today.

I've only got one kidney and I've got a dull ache coming and going from where my one kidney is.

Should I be concerned?

No one can tell you here - you need to call 111 are you classed as cv or cev?

Hope you don’t mind me asking if you are classified as CV due to having only one kidney? I also only have one as the other one had to be troves following a major bleed.

I think COVID or no COVID you should probably get medical advice if you have kidney pain in your situation

I'd give 111 a call (unless you have a renal nurse you can talk to?) and get some advice ASAP.

Were you born with one or has one been removed?

@CiderWithLizzie yes classed as CV. I was born with my left smaller than the right but was never picked up until I contracted E-coil when I was 7 then the E-coil shut my immune system down basically killed off the small kidney. They left it in for years until I started getting water/kidney infections once every two months and being constantly in hospital. They finally decided to remove it in 2018.

@leafyygreens yes I'm going to give them a call. I just don't want to waste anyones time knowing the pressures on the NHS at the moment.

Ok, then you are right to be concerned. I’ve been told it’s less of a risk if you always had one compared with having gone from two to one, which is why I asked.

Interesting. I had a kidney removed a few years ago but haven't been told I'm more vulnerable. Were you notified via your GP?
