I'm getting annoyed by the "unboosted" language

I had a chaser about my booster today stressing how important it is, and the government keep going on about it being mainly "unboosted" people in ICU

I didn't get my booster because I tested positive 2 days before my appointment. That was mid December. I booked in as soon as I was eligible.

If I'd been unlucky enough to end up in ICU it would be around now, given the usual progression of the illness.

Given the explosion of omicron cases I bet there are lots of so called "unboosted" adults in this position. I really resent this narrative that "unboosted" people bought it on themselves, while the government policy was clearly to accept rapid spread over Christmas
Anyway rant over

Just wait until you are reclassified as unvaccinated. Then you get to be redefined into the anti-vaxxer camp.

Excuse me if I sound stupid.
If you had it in mid December why around now would you be in ICU nearly a month on?

Unfortunately some people seem to need very blunt language in order to realise how important it is that the vast majority of people get vaccinated and get a booster. These are standard messages aimed at a mass audience so can't be tailored to your specific circumstances.

You'll see from posts on here that even with very clear language stating the proven importance of vaccination, that some still don't understand it.

I hope you've recovered well from having Covid.

I did feel bad when Chris Whitty kept being on tv asking us to get boosted and I kept getting texts from gp /nhs

But I had had booster booked and cancelled as having very mild covid.

I felt like I "wasn't doing my bit" and part of the many Londoners not boosted.

Feel better now I am done!

People love labels at the minute, and stigmatising. Government love it. Ignore it, it's irrelevant.

About 3% of the population are thought to have Covid 19 according to the ONS figure. In December when the booster campaign was started in earnest it was lower.

Whilst there will be those in the OPs position, I doubt they are the majority of those who have not had their booster jab. I'd guess along with anti-vaxxers there are those who just never get round to things, those afraid of needles, and those where the local options are inconvenient.
