Thank you that is a really good visual breakdown of the last 2 years

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 06/01/2022 14:45

I like that. I'd like to see it updated each month for 2022 too, but I suppose I could do that for myself Grin

PippinAndMerry · 06/01/2022 14:46

It's awful isn't it, seeing it like that.

I'm in Glasgow which I think has had the strictest lockdown in the whole of the UK, we weren't allowed household mixing for long after the rest of Scotland never mind the Uk.

It's been a long strange 2 years.

Tbh I wouldn't even consider Feb 2020 as 'normal' - in terms of restrictions it was, but many of us could already see to an extent what was coming and were feeling anxious.

JollyHostess · 06/01/2022 14:51

Yes I think Feb 2020 could be described as Denial v Prepping 😂

DigitalGhost · 06/01/2022 14:56

Think January February 2020 was prepping for MN users. Everyone seemed to be well more aware of covid here than anyone I actually knew. Everyone at work came to me for covid news then lol

heldinadream · 06/01/2022 15:07

I've just checked back and I posted a thread (not this name) on Feb 22 2020 about a friend returning from Thailand who'd been there since the beginning of that month. I gave her a mask before she went because I knew what was happening (she was blissfully unaware).
So that was towards the end of January. There was enough in the news to know if you could read the signs (if you've read enough apocalyptic disaster fiction).
So the whole of Feb not normal as far as I was concerned, just waiting for it all to kick off properly (yes, prepping!)

Good graphic though - nice summing up.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 06/01/2022 15:10

Yeah I'd already done my prepping for brexit so was well prepared for the lack of supermarket deliveries at least

BlowDryRat · 06/01/2022 15:21

Most of the 'normal' months this last summer actually had restrictions on international travel. Our summer holiday was cancelled because the destination was on the red list.

Reallybadidea · 06/01/2022 15:28

I think the anxiety was pretty mainstream by the middle of February. I remember a colleague coming back from Northern Italy and it being a big deal about whether they'd be 'allowed' back to work. Astonishingly, because they hadn't been to the 'red zone' (next village) it was absolutely fine Hmm

And DH's workplace was only allowing 'essential' international business travel by then too. I think most 'ordinary' people had a better sense of the gravity of the situation than Boris.

You're not wrong there. I'm not sure he had much of a clue until he caught it himself!

hellosunshineagainx · 06/01/2022 15:54

Yeah it's a visual on restrictions not peoples anxiety. I'm sure many were not doing all things 'allowed' in the normal periods. I haven't been to a bar since November 2019 🤪
