Whilst this sounds like a good idea, what about those of us who have recently had positive lateral flows and negative pcrs? There seems to be a lot of us.

I don’t think so

Private companies likely don’t even want to test their staff

Particularly because the isolation now likely causes more hassle than the virus itself

I think there are two types of private company tbh - those who see their employees as a valuable resource who need to be protected, and those who see their employees as replaceable units.

In my sector employers have often gone further than government guidance because specific staff being off sick would be detrimental to business continuity.

We are going to end up in even more of a two-tier situation than we are now.

Right, but for any that do, I don't see the state continuing to fund their testing costs indefinitely unless it's things like care homes. There are accounts on here of people being asked to test daily before coming into work, for example.

Reduce pressure on system. Curious people testing repeatedly on LFTscand comparing to PCR (and sharing what they see with Mhra yellow card, gov. UK, zoe app etc) are important ways of understanding issues and ways to improve the current processes. Not reporting results is most wasteful part of LFD system

Private companies such as John Lewis /Waitrose and Tata Steel already have well established testing programme for their staff.

The question now will be is it economically viable to continue this if they are paying for the tests.

Judging by this article from The Grocer back in Feb, it's well worth doing to reduce staff absences and maintain operations.
