The fatigue is killing me!

I'm on day 13 since I first had a bit of a sore throat and went for a test thinking I was being paranoid. It came back positive 5 days later. Symptoms were mild, on and off, and very manageable.

But now I have been wiped out by fatigue and body aches. I'm out of isolation, although not well enough to do anything. anyway. I've had to shorten my work days so I can go back to bed in the afternoons and luckily WFH otherwise I don't know how I'd manage.

I seem to be getting worse each day, it's becoming unbearable and affecting my mental health.

Has anyone else had this? How long did it take to go?? Any tips as I'm really struggling!!

I am about day 15 but know how you feel. I am just dog tired. I also feel really fluttery and have some back ache and generalised aches and pains. I didn’t have it bad enough to completely rest over Christmas so think I am paying the price now.

At the risk of giving you bad news - I had covid at the start of November and my experience is that it doesn't progress like 'normal' viruses.

By that I mean, normally I might expect to feel at my worse at the start, but with symptoms slowly improving over time.

My experience with this is that I felt worse at the start but recovery has been bumpy and patchy. Some days I feel much better and then the next day I wake up feeling worse again.

Over time the trend is still to the better but progress is not steady.

@SergeiL I understand the aches and pains you refer to. And about not being bad enough over Christmas to slow down. I wonder if I had rested then, I would not be in the situation I am now. Although it is a moot point now.

@WhosThatBehindTheFlask I feel that I have nose dived. My post-viral fatigue does not compare to the near insignificant symptoms. Ugh, it's miserable!

I was surprised by the fatigue. It's the main symptom I had (and was the reaction I had to jab 1 and then to the booster, though minimal in comparison). On day 9 I felt well enough to do some light exercise (by which I mean some stretching) and the same today (day 10). I'm still sleeping longer and deeper than usual, which I guess is a good thing. I've been fortunate enough to be able to rest pretty much as and when necessary and I am sure that has helped a lot. I'm being very careful not to overdo anything as I really don't want a relapse.

Hope you feel better soon.

DH tested positive on December 20. He had relatively mild symptoms and is now negative. He is still wiped out.

I tested positive just after Christmas and had it milder than DH. I had slightly different symptoms and no fatigue.

I tested positive on the 22nd...I'm still exhausted now but I didn't really get chance to rest either, I have 2 teens, 1 who I caught it from and a 20 month old, plus my husband is self employed. Covid never touched my husband, teen lad or toddler. I got diagnosed with a chest infection last week on top, saw a Dr yesterday who said my chest is sounding clear and fine now but I'm struggling walking upstairs sometimes, my chest feels tight so I'm using my inhaler more, plus my body aches, my back hurts and I'm sooo god damn tired. I try and do housework and it leaves me exhausted. I just want to feel better now.

I tested positive with symptoms on Boxing Day. Am negative today on LFT. I woke up this morning with a blinding left-sided headache, sneezing, sore throat and my chest is still awful. The fatigue and general feeling of awfulness hasn't gone away, nor has the smell and taste of burning rubbish. I'm terrified I might be in for Long Covid now, everyone else in my house has recovered and feels fine.

Positive for Covid in July 2021

Still feeling exhausted easier than before I had Covid.

I have an auto immune disease that causes fatigue but the covid fatigue is in a whole different league. I had Delta in August and it was 6 weeks before I started to improve, almost 3 months before full recovery.

I had my booster and flu jab on 9th Dec, then tested positive on the 13th. I actually talked to my GP today as I still feel so rough. Tired, awful hacking cough that I'm nearly sick with, ear exploding when I swallow, muscle and joint pain, and clogged sinuses.

She sent me a PDF of a leaflet on long covid and said what I described was "normal", it's a bastard of a virus to shake for some basically. I'm T2 diabetic but she just said to rest, give in to it, and for some it takes 12 weeks to fully recover.

I only had mild symptoms, wasn't really unwell but this awful post viral "bleugh" feeling is pretty flipping miserable.
