Hip/back pain after covid

Hi I just wondered if anyone experienced really bad lower back pain with covid and if so how long did it last. I tested positive Christmas eve and while all other symptoms have gone I am still getting a lot of pain in my hips. If I stand for more than 10 minutes I'm in pain and if I sit down I'm in a lot of pain when I go to stand up. It takes me ages to stand up and the pain cause me to be a little off balance when I do finally stand up.
I have tried various anti inflammatory creams and deep freeze gels but nothing is working. I'm trying to get a doctor's appointment but just wanted to know if anyone else experienced the same and how long it took to go away. TiA

Yes but I also came on my period and was ridiculously heavy and I get severe lower back/hip/pelvic pain with that also so wasn't sure how much was that. It has continued so guessing some is covid related

Yes nausea and lower back pain two days before testing positive on 21st and today is first day I haven't had back pain and nausea.

Thanks for the replies. I tested positive on the 24th but had the back pain for about two days before. Hopefully it goes then in a few days because right now it is really bad still. The only time it's not really painful is when I lie down and with three children and a job it's not easy to do much of that lol

I tested positive 27th, and have had lower back pain since. It’s eased a bit but it’s really painful first thing, and if I sit down for long periods.

I had covid back in July 2021 and back pain was a really bad symptom for me. I was left with long covid and continued to have gave pain for quite a few months after, though definitely not as severe. I constantly had a hot water bottle on it. A few days ago I started feeling a bit rough and then the back pain arrived and I just know it's covid. Still waiting on results but I'm convinced. The only thing that helps me is a hot water bottle.

Maybe have some bloods done to rule out Rheumatoid arthritis, Covid triggered that in me.

Try taking a relatively high dose of Vit D.

Lots of people reporting Covid back pain, and it has been recommended throughout that we take a vid d supplement. Could be coincidence but worth a try. (I manage a chronic back condition with vitamin d.)

Following with interest because I tested positive on the 26th and though I’m now testing negative again, I have a lot of bone pain in my hip, pelvis and lower back whenever I’m standing up for more than a few minutes. It’s really frustrating - I’ve been trying to clean and deChristmas a bit today, and I can’t get much done, have to keep sitting down because of it.

I already have a tendency to back problems, but this is unusual bone pain rather than muscles. Wonder if I should call GP.

I have literally staggered every time I walk with hip pain since covid Christmas 2020!!For me it has been a massive problem!

So many people saying the same thing. I hope your all starting to feel a bit better. I pain has eased down a bit but tbh it's still quite painful. Even walking and taking a step at the wrong time or angle sets it off along with carrying any bags that weigh a little bit.

I had a phone appointment with the Dr who told me that this can be what happens after covid as the virus can trigger new problems aswell as old ones. He prescribed me some pain relief but again they don't really help and have a side effect which causes your stomach to become upset which isn't nice at all.
I made the mistake of standing up to watch my son's football match today. It was hurting but tried to ride it out which was a big mistake because I literally hobbled back to my car and have been in a lot of pain all evening.
I am due to go back to work on Monday and really not looking forward to it at all. I work in a semh school and am used to dealing with a lot of behaviour challenges including restraints but that is definitely out the question right now.
I'm planning on making another appointment to see the doctor this time because I just want to get back to normal 😔

I’m 4 months down the line and back pain was and continued to be the absolute worst symptom for me so much so that I’m now waiting for an MRI.
Do ask for blood tests to check your inflammation markers too.
I was deficient in a few things but no amount of supplements have helped sadly

Melnineteeneightyone · 08/01/2022 21:45

Oh no sorry to hear that your still suffering. That's a long time. I will definitely ask. When I was younger I had a op and when I came round was given something to help anti sickness. I had an allergic reaction which caused temporary pralesysis from the next down. ( A bit of a show for some of the hospital staff as it wasn't something they had seen very often) I was fine after they sorted it. I have also had ovarian cysts and some of the pain is similar to that in my hips.
I really can't imagine feeling like this for months as it really affects my whole day. I have noticed if I kneel down in the settee I don't feel it to much or lying completely flat on my back. As much as I wouldn't mind that for a day or two it's not an option or something I would enjoy for any longer.
