Ending isolation early with LFT for infants

Myself and my one year old have tested positive confirmed by pcrs. I know lfts aren't designed for use in infants in theory, but can they still get out of isolation with two negative lfts on day six and seven? Just thinking about childcare if I have to go back to work (NHS) on day eight but then she can't necessarily go to nursery.

I would first check with the nursery. They may have stricter rules to protect all the other kids.

Also, unless your line manager is prepared to go through the Occy Health ball ache of requesting you're released from isolation early, it's still 10 days for NHS staff before you can return to work (at least it is in our trust).

Yes I'll check with our nursery over their current policy. T&T called and said she can do the lfts to get out of isolation before day ten so at least we can hopefully get her to the park even if nursery won't take her.
@Theregoesmyhomebirth My trust want us back after two negative lfts if we get them on day 6/7.

Theres a good chance you wont have to worry about it. Fay 9 for my daughter, day 8 for me, day 7 for OH and son, all still testing positive. The only one who is possibly negative is the youngest, our 4 year old but I haven't checked again since her positive PCR as she hates tests so much and had previously not shown positive on a lft at all. Anyone I know who has had covid recently was still showing positive past 7 days. Sad I'm sure some people are negative sooner though. It probably depends how early you catch it in the first place I supposs.

@Anawi so sorry to hear if has effected you all! It would almost be easier if I was still positive after day 7 as that's childcare sorted! Hope you are all well and out of isolation soon!

Thanks. I suppose that's what I mean really, there is a very good chance youll still be positive based on what I've seen. Yes its purely anecdotal but including us I know 7 adults who have had covid in the last few weeks, all vaccinated, most boosted, all still positive on day 7. I suppose it might be different if asymptomatic and I'm sure not the case for everyone.
I hope you and your little one ate feeling okay @Greenwhale

  1. Wait and see…. Lots of people seem not to be negative on lft at day 6/7 so guarantee you will be
  1. Wait and see…. You might still not feel well enough to return to work. I know I didn’t.
  1. If it’s a real issue with child care.. tbh they are not going to know if you test positive or negative on your lfts so if worst comes to worse you could always say you were still positive

As an update, I am still positive on day ten and although my child's nursery accepts negative lfts to return from day 7, my child is still positive too so turns out childcare was never going to be an issue!
