Have my booster booked for Friday at a drive through facility, however I want my left arm jabbed (I sleep on my right and am right handed) will they jab my left arm and let me out of the car or should I just cancel and go to a walk in facility????

I said it was random!!!

You just have to move into the passenger seat and open that window!

Footnote · 02/01/2022 21:22

Take off the belt and kneel on the seat facing the back?

Gladioli23 · 02/01/2022 21:24

They shouldn't be allowing you to drive (even to park) immediately after being vaccinated, so I think you should be parked up so I don't think the wrong arm should be a problem.

Cookerhood · 02/01/2022 23:32

Not any more. If it's Pfizer & you've had Pfizer before you don't have to wait. Presumably the drive throughs have always had away of dealing with this anyway. Driving to park wouldn't have been a problem anyway, they just didn't want you driving off into the sunset.

Looks like I should be OK. Thanks. I've had AZ and looks like Moderna is the booster of choice around here. I don't know anyone that hasn't been ill with it so just trying to plan my day for the least worst opeltions!

It's not the 15 minutes observation that's an issue here - you aren't allowed to drive for 15 mins either way. Agreed that they must have a plan though!

I went to a walk in yesterday and was told I couldn't drive for 15 minutes after.

My adult DS had Moderna as booster after 2 Pfizer. His arm really hurt for 2 days and he had to come home lunchtime from work the next day as he felt exhausted. He slept all afternoon, had dinner and went back to bed and slept right through till morning, when he felt better. 3 other relatives had Moderna boosters this week, they all had sore arms, but nothing else.

WaterBottle123 · 03/01/2022 08:55

Eh? There's no rule about not being able to drive after 15 mins, that's nonsense.

We both had Moderna and got into cars immediately after and drove.

Cookerhood · 03/01/2022 09:20

The Green book requires 15 mins observation after mRNA vaccines. This has been waived during the drive to boost everyone for those who have had it before. Different centres will have different local rules though. It may even be part of their licence, I'm not sure.
Here is what gov.uk says about it
www.gov.uk/government/news/15-minute-observation-period-after-vaccine-temporarily-suspended-to-speed-up-booster-rollout
With the handy statement "do not drive for 15 minutes" at the very bottom.

@WaterBottle123 - I don't think the 15 mins before driving is nonsense - see the link in this quote, in the section called "background information".
