I'm 22 weeks pregnant, not vaccinated. The data about catching covid in 3rd trimester/unvaxxed is concerning me a lot, but if omicron only responds to a 3rd/booster, is there any point in me getting a 1st/2nd dose now? Based on vaccine timings, if I get vaxxed now I can only have my booster after the baby is born. So if omicron only is combatted with 3 doses/booster, getting covid now would still be a risk for me and my baby? And as I understand it, omicron is or will be the dominant strain?

Please respond kindly. I chose not to get the vaccine because it was untested in pregnancy and I was scared it may negatively affect the baby. I am aware of the risks of covid/pregnancy... to be honest I wish I had it now, or that omicron responds to single/double dose. I could get it now and get the booster in May after my baby is born, sooner the better, I know. But part of me still is worried that it's an unknown risk in pregnancy (there hasn't been time for long term study of its effects) and I could be risking vaccine side effects for little gain? I am in support of the vaccine and have supported my whole family getting it, it is just the fact it's not long term tested in pregnancy that has held me back. I'm in good health generally, not at risk, just pregnant.

Anyway, will a recent first or second dose prevent bad covid illness in 3rd trimester, or does it have to be a booster too?

I’m 16 weeks pregnant, have covid now and unvaccinated.
Day one I was violently sick and couldn’t get my raging fever under control. I couldn’t keep meds down and ended up getting meds at hospital.
Two days after that I perked up enough to be on the couch but had a very bad headache and blocked nose, no energy and still felt sick.
Now I am suffering with terrible fatigue. Standing in the shower is taxing. I’ve done nothing.
My dh is fully vaccinated and caught it off me and has no symptoms.
I wish I had just got the bloody vaccines.
I totally understand why you haven’t though; being pregnant and new drugs don’t fill you with confidence, I totally get it.
Now I’m scared I get the vaccine and end up ill again.
It’s bloody horrible.

35 weeks pregnant double vaccinated and currently have covid. No booster been absolutely fine had a rough few days but soon back to feeling ok. I'm guessing my vaccines stopped me from getting too sick with it.

I had both of my jabs while pregnant. I work in a school and knew this winter it would all flare up again and began the third trimester beginning of December. There was a lot of scare mongering about the jab affecting fertility which put me off as we were ttc, but then I heard from several stories about women being hospitalised in the third trimester with covid and babies being born early by c sections due to complications which worried me. It’s all personal choice and what you feel comfortable/happy with. It did take me a while to decide for sure but I was fully vaccinated by the beginning of the third trimester which I’m glad about as both of my children caught covid and I have been around covid positive cases at work and thankfully managed to avoid it myself.

If it helps, OP, I had all three of my doses during pregnancy (I do realise anecdote is not data) and had no side effects beyond a slightly sore arm for any of them. I've just this week been delivered of a healthy baby and haven't caught covid despite being a teacher in a school with pretty much no mitigations throughout.

Glad you're planning to get vaxxed and good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.
