Positive pcr before flight

Interested to know if anyone has booked a holiday and then someone in the group or family has tested positive on pre flight pcr? Did everyone else still go or all stay home in this horrible scenario? We were debating what we would do and I guess it depends on who it is e.g if it was a child in group then an adult would need to stay aswell

Would you want to leave the sick person alone?

LizziesTwin · 01/01/2022 21:51

Yes a friend of mine this week - she & her husband stayed where they were.

My two worries would be:

  • the negative people would go but become positive whilst on holiday which would be a potential nightmare
  • the positive person would be unwell, or even if not my worrying about them would ruin the holiday anyway

I have no real-life experience though!

@LizziesTwin so one of them was positive but both stayed?

@SantiagoSky no I wouldn't leave them but they might be part of our group but still have family at home who could look after them

@rrhuth yes these are definately my concerns

A family member currently can get back to his home country because of oct keeps coming back positive, be aware you can be positive on a pcr up to 90 days after you've had coronavirus even if lat flows are negative.

We travelled abroad last month & talked thru many of these scenarios; the short answer is that we intended tov try hard to let everyone still travel who was allowed, others would have to stay behind, subject to age etc.

Many people who test +ve for SARS-CoV-2 aren't ill at all (at any point)... or especially tend to be minimally ill after vaccinations

LizziesTwin · 01/01/2022 23:01

Yes both stayed as why would he want to leave her on her own? Wouldn’t be a holiday for him knowing his wife was ill on her own.

DS and I are due to go on holiday with my parents later in the year. We have agreed that if someone in one household tests positive (asymptotic), the others will still go.

We have wider support networks, so wouldn’t stay at home in case they got seriously ill.

Colleague's son tested positive. None of them went on holiday. One parent would have had to stay home with the child in any case but they were also worried that if 1 parent and other child still went they may develop covid whilst away.
So I think it would depend if everyone going is from same household or not
