I’m quite anxious about going back, although luckily managed to get the booster jab before Christmas. Lots of our families live hand to mouth so won’t regular test and can’t miss a week of work, which I do understand.

I’m also worried about exam classes having to sit exams as if nothing has happened.

I’m worried about lack of staff, week before Christmas hols our whole learning support team were off, with no cover.

I’m worried about getting ill and the hospitals are full.

I worry about having to send my kids into nursery where there’s a huge outbreak, but don’t have the option to keep them home.

I worry about bad behaviour as the SLT aren’t ‘policing’ the corridors at lesson change around sl behaviour is going to pot.

I also worry about school closures and kids mental health.

Absolutely chaotic where I am.
I was in a class with at least 9 pupils who had no idea they were supposed to lat flow before they came onto site.

Some students refusing full stop.

Other things that mean't students not in masks due to some teachers personal preference going against the head.

17?! Eek, that's bad.

We only lost one. Unfortunately, she's new and had no access to LFTs so she came into school first and we gave her a box this morning which she then took and turned out to be positive. I spent 3 hours with her yesterday doing induction so I'm expecting to catch it soon. Maybe I'll get away with it, you never know.

We didn't have children in today, except for secondary year groups coming in to do their testing. We were supposed to be on an education conference but it did go online in the end. But we also had stuff to do in classrooms etc so most staff were in. It all felt weirdly normal. I was expecting chaos and loads of restrictions. Not sure what the results of the testing was though.

But we have normal assembly tomorrow. Weird.

We only had Year 13s, 11s and 10s in today for testing then to lessons (live lessons for other year groups) and we have had to send so many home who tested positive on the lfts. When we did this back in March, we sent home none.
Definitely a huge increase. Let’s see how the other year groups do tomorrow…

My head thinks we should stop asymptomatic testing.

blameitonthecaffeine · 04/01/2022 19:25

As in my head teacher, not my brain!

Although I don't entirely disagree.

We tested our years 9, 10, 11 & 12 today but it was of course optional - this is not stressed much in the media or by government.

In some tutor groups about 15 students turned up to be tested (out of about 30). Other tutor groups only 5 students turned up out of 30!

Medra · 05/01/2022 19:33

@Twiglets1 We had 9 at most on a form come in for testing. Lots of forms only had 3 pupils attend.

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 05/01/2022 19:47

Hopefully they are all testing at home 🤞🏾

Maybe that’s wishful thinking!
