Do you have to isolate if fully vaccinated?

Sorry if this has been covered but I’m confused! Do you have to isolate if you’re a close contact if you’re fully vaccinated and test negative on lft? The gov site and nhs site seem to say you don’t have to isolate if you’re under 18, fully vaccinated or can’t be vaccinated for medical reasons. Is that correct or has that advice changed?

If you are a fully vaccinated (two doses) contact of someone who tested positive for Covid, you do not have to self-isolate but should do daily lateral flow tests (LFTs) for seven days. This also applies to people under 18 years and six months.

England.

Where are you?

In England, you don't need to isolate as a close contact if fully vaccinated and no symptoms, but do daily lateral flows for 7 days instead. If you do develop symptoms, then same as anyone else, you should isolate and book a PCR

Thank you. I’m in England.

Correct. You don't have to isolate. You should get a pcr but sometimes people rush into taking pcrs a day or two after contact, their test is negative but they go onto test positive in the coming days. So daily lateral flows are recommended too.

Dp had very close contact on a Wednesday. Negative lft Thursday, did a pcr on Friday which was negative, negative lft on Saturday but strong positive lft on the Sunday, confirmed by pcr.

Same advice as for a while - I don’t know why but rarely see the other guidance posted up for close contacts.

If you have been informed by NHS Test and Trace that you are a contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 but they have not been able to tell you the date you had contact with this person, you should take an LFD test every day for 7 days.

If your LFD test result is negative, it is likely that you were not infectious at the time when the test was taken. To further reduce the chance of passing COVID-19 on to others, you are strongly advised to:

limit close contact with people outside your household, especially in crowded, enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces
work from home if you are able to
wear a face covering in crowded, enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces and where you are in close contact with other people
limit contact with anyone who is at higher risk of severe illness if infected with COVID- 19
follow the guidance on how to stay safe and help prevent the spread
Follow this advice for the 10 days after your most recent contact with the person who has tested positive for COVID-19.
