So what are the rules?

Tested positive this evening. No symptoms apart from a lack of smell. I’m a single mum and my dd seems fine but she’s asleep so untested as of yet.
What are the rules? I’ve heard children don’t need to isolate anymore so presuming she is negative she goes back to school on the 4th? Who takes her?

I would ask the school tbh.

Sorry to hear that also. It's a right pain in the backside this bug. Hope you get an easy ride.

I'm a single mum and when I had covid I had to keep my daughter at home. She caught it from me anyway after a few days. It's not great but there was no other option.

But when was that? The rules change all the time, at least half the parents in my dds class have had it and the children have been absolutely fine.

Thank you, I’m triple jabbed so very hopeful, I’m overweight though and have a bad chest at the best of times Sad

The rules are that she can go to school. But you can’t leave the house. So in your case I would keep her at home

Katie517 · 29/12/2021 22:50

If you can drive I would take her to school and arrange for a member of staff to come out and collect her, that’s what has been happening at my little ones nursery. If she’s negative there is no reason to keep her at home.

Where you positive on a lft or pcr? We can't get any tests anywhere. Got a feeling somebody brought covid into the house on Boxing Day. Today my daughter tested positive on a lft and my beige has a head ache. Pretty much everybody that was here has said they feel under the weather. But can't get tests anywhere! What do we do in this? I know what's morally right but what's the actual law if you have symptoms but can't get a pcr? (Whether + or - on a lft)

JanglyBeads · 29/12/2021 22:52

Unless there is someone else who can take her. You may be able to come out of isolation by day 7 if you test neg on lateral flows on Day 6 and 7. That would make it ok for you to take her - presuming you wouldn't use public transport?

When you register your positive you'll be sent all the information / rules.

JanglyBeads · 29/12/2021 22:52

The "actual law" is to isolate if for anyone reason you cannot test.

JanglyBeads · 29/12/2021 22:53
  • if for any reason you cannot test (and you have symptoms)

No public transport. I have a TA who lives over the road, she says children were dropped off by positive parents last term.

They shouldn't have been, although I understand why this happens...

Elizabeth110100 · 30/12/2021 14:54

I tested positive on 12th December so my daughter missed her last week. I couldn't get my daughter to school as we don't love close so that's primarily why she couldn't attend.

LethargeMarg · 30/12/2021 14:59

You're supposed to daily lateral flow close contacts- I would imagine school would be ok with this but our recent experience with ltfs is they take a few days to work by which time you could have unknowingly spread it and it's very contagious this time . Saying that by the 4 jan I would think if she is going to catch it it would be fairly obvious and showing on ltfs by then
