Just thinking, at the moment the majority of countries around the world require full vaccination for entry which is 2 jabs. Do you think it will increase to 3 x jabs for entry? I haven't seen/read anything as yet.

@userisi2

I have to admit it's one of the reasons I delayed my booster a week until after Christmas so it would be within 6 months of our holiday planned in June, obviously no use if it needs to be more recent than that but in my head 6 months seemed reasonable ha!
Same here. 7.5m since the second one and won’t have the booster until it’s been 8m because I want to make sure it won’t screw my summer holidays

A lot will depend on how it affects hospital admissions. At the moment it is looking highly likely that the booster is stopping high levels of admissions therefore I imagine it will be needed.

@EasterIssland until we are given the option of paying privately our holidays are completely at the mercy of our vaccine programme aligning with other country's expectations. I'm aware how precious (and privileged) that sounds but I do wish we had the option to sort privately, (I'm assuming supply is no longer an issue).

My 14 year old ds is looking at missing his trips in feb and March as he had covid just when he was ready for his first jabs and he's struggling with long covid so I'm not wanting to get him jabbed. He is still testing positive 5 weeks after having covid, so we are buggered from all directions.

It really won't allow for medical exemption at all, I ended up in hospital after my first jab so I'm only single jabbed as well, and have had covid twice now. 🤦‍♀️

I’m not sure France will open up prior to your DH’s trip. It’s quite soon. Our government website has travel restrictions for each country but do check when last updated. And keep reviewing. Like you say rules constantly change.
We were meant to go skiing in France for Xmas, but it was cancelled last minute so went to Italy instead (via Geneva), hence knowing French, Italian & Swiss rules. We returned yesterday. Restrictions are increasing. Austria changed their rules on Monday to needing a booster and I know others are adding this requirement. I’ve no idea if it’ll include over 12’s but if your child is 12 in mid Jan they’ll have the first dose then, 2nd dose mid April and can then travel until requiring a booster 6 months later (mid Sept)… as rules stand. Prior to France banning Brits, over 12’s that weren’t fully vaccinated (ie, double jabbed) needed to do 24hr LFTs. A few weeks previously it was 48hr LFTs. So it would have been a real pain if you’ve got a child who only has one jab.
IF France allow Brits in then your DH will need to be 14 days post booster vaccine. On the French news yesterday they’ve brought in mandatory work from home 3 days a week plus other restrictions. They are also looking at photo covid passes and much stricter rules re ‘vaccine passes’. Your DH may want to look at a ski resort outside of France. Switzerland is currently the most straightforward. Unless they re-introduce the PCRs and reporting to the local cantonal office.

Many thanks @NotDonna, he would be staying with family in France, but I'm not sure if that makes a difference or not. Have just read the article linked above, I think as he would be within the 270 days since his 2nd jab he might be okay without his booster (before early March at least when the 270 days 'expires') ?

His flights are to Geneva so he might pay to stay in Swiss accommodation but I'm really not sure as part of the trip was to visit family. Urgh!!! I would be highly surprised if he can travel there in 3 weeks time.

I’m sorry op but I think it’s highly unlikely French restrictions will lift in 3 weeks. At least his 2nd jab will see him through if they do. It’s just so difficult isn’t it?

Theonlyoneiknow · 29/12/2021 23:16

Yes, so frustrating, sad, difficult, stressful and so on :(

His flights are fully changeable at least. But he is so desperate to see his family too.

Oh for a crystal ball! Darn Omicron ! Appreciate the posts.

Be careful: the rules in France change on January 15th.
Without a booster, the health pass then expires after 7 months for adults (18 and up).
