Fit to fly within 90 days of positive PCR

Just that, really! I tested positive for Covid on 24th Dec (so did my DP).
We are due to fly to South Africa on 3rd March, so within 90 days.
Are there exemptions for this? Or do we need to do the pre flight PCR test and just hope that it comes back negative?!
I have googled but nothing seems concrete in the responses I'm finding.

You need to check what the Covid rules for entering SA are. Should be on the officially website or on the airlines website.
Coming back to the Uk antigen test is possible (rules could have changed by then of course)

I have looked into this. I'm not sure about rules for SA but at the moment you have to take a day 2 PCR on returning to UK and just hope that it's negative. If it comes up positive, even if it's from a previous infection you still have to isolate for 10 days. We have cancelled our rearranged holiday because of this due to there being only a 2 week gap. I think you will be fine come March though. Apparently it's rare to still test positive so long after although possible.

You might be ok with the PCR, my children had covid early November and had to take a PCR to fly to Italy with their dad on the 27th - both tested negative.

Oh that's good to know. I guess it's a gamble. I wouldn't mind isolating myself but I want to avoid the little ones having to miss school.

We did day 2 PCRs last week after coming back from France. We had positive tests at the beginning of November, so 55 days before we needed to do them for travel. They were negative.

Great, thanks all. Slightly less stressed about it now!
This is our fourth rescheduling of a trip back to see family so I don't want a PCR test to get in the way!

Ah actually one more question (again I have googled but it's not clear, which makes me think the answer is 'yes') - are infants included in PCR requirements (pre and post trip)? DD will be 2...

Thanks!

As far as I'm aware, only over 5s have to do a day 2 PCR on arrival back in the UK. I'm not sure about country of destination rules. Hope you manage to get away this time and have a stress free trip!
