Booster or not

Personally I know too many people with adverse reactions now to taking the Injection. Such as clots, breathlessness , stomach pains, shingles , headaches .. I’m worried about taking the booster. Haven’t felt right since my second ?

OP posts:
Waxonwaxoff0 · 28/12/2021 16:34

I don't know anyone who has been ill from the jabs.

I haven't booked my booster yet, but I only had my second jab at the end of September. I'm not sure how necessary it is to get boosted so soon as it looks like Omicron is less dangerous than expected. I'll wait 6 months like the original guidance stated.

Blubells · 28/12/2021 16:35

If you want to travel next year then you'll need boosters as the double vax status runs out after 270 days so you wont be able to travel without it to many countries

Then you'll want your booster as late as possible. Also, benefits start to decline between 5-10 weeks, I read.

Yes, I think I'll get mine around March time for summer travel.
Northsoutheastwest76 · 28/12/2021 17:59

Thats a bit unfair. It's the booster the OP is concerned about so how does that make them anti vax?

If you saw the posts on the other thread you would understand.

Don't get it. The side effects are awful.
For a handful of people. For the majority they are negligible

You don't have to go via the gp to report side effects.
The information sheet you get when having the vaccine references the yellow card scheme. You can self report on that. It's all online.

lisaandalan · 28/12/2021 18:08

I have had all my jabs but insisted on Pfizer. Everyone I know who had Moderna was Ill x

Cookerhood · 28/12/2021 18:17

I had Moderna & wasn't ill. A mixture of vaccines probably gives you better protection.

BeefnHorseradish · 28/12/2021 18:19

Had first two (AZ in my early forties) in the summer. Horrible ongoing side effects, talk of a fourth booster, debate over the current boosters effectiveness on Omicron, Omicron being milder have all led me to not even consider a booster. I'm done unless something changes dramatically, as are my DM, my DH, DB, DSIL and our teen DC.

WednesdaysChildIsFullOfCake · 28/12/2021 18:30

Had the 2 vaccines no more for me

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 28/12/2021 18:35

The worst side effect for me was the pain in my armpit, other than that it was fine. Actually having the vaccination was worse for me as I have a needle phobia.

That's true, but if people are genuinely suffering from ongoing side effects from the jabs, I presume that they have consulted their GPs, a) to get help and b) to rule out other possible causes. Consequently, I think GPs probably have a pretty good overview of how many people have experienced ongoing adverse effects.

Of course, if someone wasn't actually suffering from any symptoms but wanted to spread misinformation about the jabs in order to promote their anti vax agenda, then there would be no need to consult the GP at all.

Agree with this! My booster is rebooked for mid-Jan but I may end up delaying it again. My 270 days from second jab isn't up until mid-April 2022 so a while to go before my lack of booster gets annoying for travel (and even without a booster, a negative PCR prior to travel is said to be an acceptable alternative)
Watapalava · 28/12/2021 20:33

Sagittarius

Many EU countries are no longer accepting negative tests for entry anymore

There’s are now many countries unvax simple can’t go to as they don’t accept negative testsc

An article I read in the Times said a negative PCR would be an acceptable alternative. I'll see if I can find it.

It was this one. Altho I am aware that for some places you can't go at all if not jabbed. Maybe that will change. Who knows!

Watapalava · 28/12/2021 20:42

It will if countries accept it

But many no longer do

They did up til a month ago but each country has there own entry requirements

The EU are following a 3G/2G rule so even if they allow negative test for entry they waive allow it for accessing hotels restaurants and bars

Eg Austria france follow 2G rule so even if you get in with test you can’t check into a hotel or bar

Austria Spain’s no longer accept tests for entry

Others like Italy have isolation on arrival for none vax

SagittariusDwarf · 28/12/2021 20:47

Yeah, I'll have whatever jabs are needed to travel. That's always been the main reason for me to have these covid jabs in any case.

TheVolturi · 28/12/2021 20:48

I am having mine next week but I'm hoping it's not pfizer again. Had a terrible few months after having my vaccines this year, triggered a really bad bout of ibs that went on for the whole summer with no break. Ended up in A&E with the worst stomach pain and had alsorts of tests. Only just got back right in September. Coincidence? Quite possibly, but never been so unwell for so long.

blue2222 · 28/12/2021 20:51

Get the booster. You'll end up with covid if you don't. You might get it even if you've been boosted but you're much less likely to be hospitalised. If you had bad side effects to the vaccine, just think how the wild virus will hit you.

Voice0fReason · 28/12/2021 22:38

Nothing more than a sore arm for a couple of days here.
DH had no side effects at all.
My son felt rough for a day but back to normal after that.
Other son had a sore arm and felt rough for a day or 2.

We've had AZ, Pfizer & Moderna.

Gooseysgirl · 28/12/2021 23:12

I know heaps of people who have had the booster and not a single one had anything more than a sore arm and very mild symptoms of a cold.
