Feel so ill!

Upthecreek04 · 27/12/2021 18:41

I got a positive lft this morning and already feel really ill.

Appetite gone, so very thirsty, fuzzy head, aching limbs etc.

It's my chest that worrying me it hurts so much, really aching, breathing seems such an effort. When I lay down its slightly better.

I can't speak a sentence.

Is this normal??

I'm double jabbed plus booster, although my BMI is nearly 40 so that's got me a bit worried. I'm late 30s in terms of age

I was debating buying an oximeter but my husband says it will just be anxiety inducing always checking it. But I don't feel I can get a deep breath.

Anyone whose has covid is this normal please?

Definitely buy an oximeter. You really need to know if your levels are dropping so that you can go to hospital if necessary (as advised by the GP and the paramedics I saw earlier in the week). It is miserable. I am on day 13 and still struggling.

zaffa · 27/12/2021 18:46

Yes I felt that way in Jan and also have high BMI. I think the fact that it's COVID makes you so much more anxious and my oximeter did make me so anxious - i was so scared about hypoxia

Looking back I think I was more anxious and it made me feel worse. I was better in a week but I was bed bound for about five days. DH had toddler DD to entertain as we all quarantined and looked very grey by the end of it!

Hawkmoth · 27/12/2021 18:46

Buy the oximeter, call 111. You should be able to speak in sentences.

Katya213 · 27/12/2021 18:46

If you can't speak a sentence, you need to phone 111 or 999. I hope you get better.x

zaffa · 27/12/2021 18:47

Oh except I could speak in a sentence. But I was remarkably more able to speak and sound well when suddenly speaking to the doctor on the phone. I do think an odometer would help if you are struggling to breathe actually

SomebodysMum · 27/12/2021 18:47

I would be phoning 999 if that was me never mind an oximeter.

zaffa · 27/12/2021 18:47

*oximeter. The not being able to speak due to breathlessness is more concerning

SomebodysMum · 27/12/2021 18:48

I mean get an oximeter anyway, mine has actually massively reduced my anxiety, but priority is get some proper medical attention now.

SergeiL · 27/12/2021 18:49

Can’t speak a sentence isn’t normal. I think you need some relatively urgent medical advice. I have just had Covid, have heart and lung problems and never felt like this.

elizadoalittle · 27/12/2021 18:50

Unable to speak in a sentence without taking a breath... you should be calling 999

Wrongkindofovercoat · 27/12/2021 18:51

Are you taking anything to manage the symptoms at all ? paracetamol, ibuprofen, antihistimines if you get snotty/sinus issues ? Loads of fluid ?

I think a oximeter are a good thing to have, you can assess if you are getting worse and seek advice if you are.

Signoramarella · 27/12/2021 18:53

Yes I had exactly this. Get an oximeter now. If oxygen falls below 95 call 111.
Mine dropped to 93 twice and I went to A and E.
I'm fit, 50. No conditions. Triple jabbed.
Don't delay

idiotmagnet · 27/12/2021 18:53

I was really ill and double-jabbed. 6 weeks in and still not right tbh. Have a oximetre and in constant contact with GP.
Also on a steroid inhaler. Take care.

Campervan69 · 27/12/2021 18:54

The oxometer kept me sane throughout my battle with Covid-19. When I was struggling to breathe, I would check and my oxygen levels were always fine. It reassured me and stopped me panicking. Sometimes I was checking every minute but so what? It gave me reassurance every time.

Wrongkindofovercoat · 27/12/2021 18:54

Sorry just seen the not being able to say a sentence, I would seek medical advice now.

Upthecreek04 · 27/12/2021 18:55

Thanks all, feel like I've been running in the cold you k ow when your chest hurts like that.

Clearly I'm well enough to type 🤣

Husband just brought me dinner and I had a bite then had to stop to breathe, then bite again

Maybe it's a chest infection not covid? I didn't expect it to come on so quickly though only got positive lft this morning

Honestly. Please call for some advice.

lissie123 · 27/12/2021 18:56

Seek medical advice now please

savagebaggagemaster · 27/12/2021 18:59

Definitely ring 111 at the very least. Order an oximeter as well.
Don't underestimate how quickly you could deteriorate. You need to speak to a professional about the breathing thing.

Wrongkindofovercoat · 27/12/2021 19:00

You could have a secondary infection on top of covid, so the best thing to do is seek advice, they may be able to prescribe something to help with the symptoms or suggest over the counter stuff to help. Better to ring now, they would rather see a well poorly person than a really ill poorly person Smile

the80sweregreat · 27/12/2021 19:06

You may need anti biotics op
111are good

Upthecreek04 · 27/12/2021 19:06

What happened at a and e please? I don't want to waste their time and I'm worried they will judge me for being overweight it's no wonder I'm breathless with about 5 stone of extra weight I'm just under 14 stone

Currently with covid too (tested positive on LFT xmas day), and my symptoms are similar to yours, I got terrified last night because my chest felt heavy and found myself straining to breathe. What really helped me was staying in a reclined position instead of lying completely flat over night. I mostly just have fatigue, splitting headache and intermittent cough now. I hope your symptoms ease and you feel better soon OP.

Upthecreek04 · 27/12/2021 19:08

Going to get children in bed (well DH is) and see how I go. May try moving to couch rather than bed see if that helps but don't know if I can face walking down the stairs ATM!
