Pantomime risks - have you been.

We have tickets for me and DC2 to go to the panto on the 2nd but I'm not 100% sold on going yet.

My DC loves theatre/singing and I really feel like he's missed out enough already with no choir/drama/shows. So am desperate to take him.

I've been triple boosted and am a SAHM so no issues with missing work if I get Covid and have to isolate. Would rather DC didn't miss school, but feel it's inevitable we'll get it at some point so 🤷.

I'm interested to know how many other people have been to pantomimes this year and if anyone who did go thinks they caught covid there. Or indeed, if you went and were then fine.

We are not London or home counties based but we are in the South. Locally cases are just below average.

Went today and had a fab time.

Cancelled our trip to the panto

I trust us. We would have absolutely done a LF but the problem is I don't trust the general public. Never. So I figured it wasn't worth the risk as I've known too many people become very unwell from covid.

Do your own risk assessment and
make your own decisions.

Good luck.

Also went 10 days ago, theatre was rammed - no covid afterwards. So glad we went

@iwantareindeer

Oh yes we did. Grin Went week before Xmas. Was great to see a live performance again. Fairly small theatre - that said still a disproportionate amount of people not wearing masks. In that small a theatre find it hard to believe there were that many not truly exempt rather than just selfish.
Exactly

See this would fuck me off beyond belief. As a person exempt from wearing a mask but chooses to wear one, I find it astonishing that there are even whole families that I see out and about without one mask between them.

And they wonder why the virus is gong nowhere

I took my son to panto in a local theatre on 19th, it is possible I caught covid there as a boy sitting behind us was coughing a lot but I don't know for sure and I don't regret it - we had a great time, my son enjoyed it and was so inspired and happy afterwards. Worth saying that local rates here are twice the national average and the theatre was packed just after the last week of school so it's probably better for you with local situation and the show being on 2nd January.
I'd go unless you're looking after someone extremely vulnerable.

DD went with a group of 15 kids and four adults. 13 of the kids (including her) tested positive with the week. None of the adults (all jabbed and boosted). Of course it could have been caught at school too.

Went on the 19th, quite a few empty seats. None of the family got covid.

CallMeNutribullet · 28/12/2021 08:25

I went a couple of weeks ago. In Scotland but no one checked vaccine passports and barely anyone wore masks once seated but we had a great time. One of the few times I felt "normal" since this thing began.

Went on 22nd Dec. Was a bit worried about it as had people coming for Christmas, so wore two masks in the end. Practically every adult and a lot of children were wearing masks too. There was a lot of singing, shouting during the performance, but luckily we escaped catching covid and I'm really glad we went and had a good time!

I went before Xmas. Loved it but was surprised at how empty the theatre was

Had to show Covid pass to get in

South coast here. Felt safe.
