Dp came to mine Xmas eve. Ate dinner opposite adult ds.(21 ) DS then went to bed.
DS tested positive Xmas day morning.
I'm still negative but he has been isolating in our summer house since we found out. Haven't seen DP since Xmas eve.
DP tested Xmas day and was negative but hasn't tested since. Is he likely to get it after that brief encounter ? I'm so so anxious he will get it as he has underlying health issues.

Not necessarily... My DC and I spent 3 hours inside my friends house with her and her son recently, kids especially were very close, hugging, playing etc . My friend and her son felt ill the following day and both tested positive. None of us caught it.
The thing is no one can say for sure so he really does need to keep testing.

DD had in August in our house. We didn’t make her isolate, sat next to her on the sofa, didn’t anti bac hands or wipe down any surfaces. No one else in the house got it. I wouldn’t spend time worrying about it. Enjoy Christmas!

Moff2k · 27/12/2021 15:46

I can't enjoy it at all, I'm so worried we will have infected him and his family

Omicron's pretty much everywhere especially if you're anywhere near London, does yr DP have no risk from anywhere else. Is he triple vaxxed, which may mean he still gets it but doesn't have bad symptoms?

And am a bit worried about yr DS isolating in a summer house in December.....

Moff2k · 27/12/2021 15:54

He is triple vaxxed yes. He wfh and has seen elderly family Xmas and boxing day. He's 53 himself.

DS has it good don't worry. He has heating, WiFi, a t.v, , a sofa bed and a heated mattress topper down there!

I'm worried that my child will have infected him and that in turn he will have infected his elderly mother with a lung condition. I would be devastated and our relationship wouldn't survive.
So, in the maybe 1 hour he was with DS, I'm wondering how likely he is to be infected.
I guess no-one can tell Sad

Anyone else?

It is counted as close contact so he should do lft every day for 7 days. No-one can tell you the chances I'm afraid.

LoannaJumley · 27/12/2021 17:47

Dh has Covid, I've been Doing LFTs daily and I've not caught it.

Moff2k · 27/12/2021 18:11

How long has he had it, when did he test positive ?

A week ago, instant positive on lft followed swiftly by a positive pcr. Today's my last day of daily testing.
Spacecadetagain · 27/12/2021 18:16

My dd (11) tested positive before Christmas , she’d been symptomatic the day before she tested positive . No one else in the house tested positive or developed symptoms so it’s not a given that your DP will have caught it

Vapeyvapevape · 27/12/2021 18:18

It really is impossible to say Op , loads of people have it and don’t pass it on to family and others all go down with it . No one can give you the answer.

Sparkai · 27/12/2021 18:21

I think I read some American research that said that people seem to be most infectious 2 days before symptoms appear. (For omicron and delta) The average time taken from infection to symptoms is 3 days for omicron and 4-5 days for delta.

coochyboochy · 27/12/2021 18:22

Why would your relationship not survive? You haven't injured his mother on purpose. How would that be your fault?!

Waterfallgirl · 27/12/2021 18:23

There seems to be no rhyme nor reason here, some get it some don’t. I was at a wedding on 18th Dec all had negative LFT to attend. Out of 70 guests 9 got it including me. I sat all day in a group of 6, only me and one other got it.
I’ve spent all Christmas on my own isolating from my DH. But I shared a bed with him from Sun 19th -Tues 22nd until I had a positive LFT then isolated ( then PCR confirmed) . He hasn’t got it either.

Moff2k · 28/12/2021 17:28

I still haven't caught it, but I've got very slight sniffles. Dd has tested positive today.
I'm so so worried he will have picked it up...

I'm still negative. Now been in the house with 2 covic positive people since Saturday. Most odd. When can I assume I will be OK ?

You could still catch it from someone up to 14 days after they were last infectious.
Redhotspicywine · 29/12/2021 15:09

Odd that your relationship wouldn’t survive this - it’s hardly your fault! I think you need to try and relax - worrying is achieving precisely nothing

Theunamedcat · 29/12/2021 15:11

I live with two children im positive ds 2 is positive ds 1 continues to be negative

frenchiemummy92 · 29/12/2021 15:19

When DP had it before either of us had had any jabs we didn't isolate away from one another or the children and only DP tested positive. This was October 2020. As far as we are aware only DP has had it out of the four off us.
