What if you still positive on lft after 10 days

Currently on day 7 of covid, feeling fine but still testing positive on lateral flow tests.
What happens if you are still testing positive after 10 days when your official isolation ends? I’m taking it that you are allowed to go about your business as usual?

Slight complication in that DH tested positive 3 days after me so do I have to wait till after his isolation ends?

After ten days you follow the old guidelines. So released from isolation.

The new rules just apply to being released early.

Even if I’m still testing positive and Dh is still in isolation?
Or do I not even have to test after 10 days. My head is spinning with all the regulations and mis information out there.

Yes you are free from isolation and no you don’t have to wait until your dh finishes his.

If you are still testing positive on LFTs personally I’d be careful, masking up indoors etc. just in case.

You can leave the house after 10 days regardless of a positive lft. I’ve been reading a lot about this the past few days as I’m on day 9 and also had strong positives on day 6 and 7 (and still feel a little ill but over the worst of it).

From what I can gather lots of studies have been done on how long you are infectious and they found that no one still had the live virus in them after 9 days. You can still have a high viral load, hence your lft may still be positive but after 9 days it’s essentially dead virus. The 7 day thing makes sense as if you catch it and have a low viral load, and so are not very ill, then if you are symptomless and test negative on days 6 and 7 its pretty certain you are in the all clear.

If you have a higher viral load and heavier symptoms then you could still be infectious on day 9, so you should stay in. But, regardless of how much viral load you still have after 9 days, the virus is dead so cannot spread. It’s a good way of filtering out those who are not infectious after 7 days though, to save so many people isolating for longer than they need to.

You can tell I’ve been bored in isolation reading about all of this!
