DH has covid (confirmed pcr), I am waiting for pcr results after positive lft. Ds has just had positive lft. Am I allowed to take him to pcr test site? Bit confused on the rules. Any advice? Thank you

Yes you are, is it a drive through site?

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 27/12/2021 10:00

Do a drive through

bizboz · 27/12/2021 10:01

Yes I think you are allowed to. Is it a drive-through site?

Yes you can, but why not just order a home test kit?

PurpleDaisies · 27/12/2021 10:01

Yes. Test centres are set up to deal with positive people. That’s the point of them!

Won’t that need posting?

Seriously, test centres are there for positive people. It’s fine to go to one.

Covidclaire · 27/12/2021 10:09

Given it’s v, v, likely to be positive and you all need to isolate anyway I would just order a home one.

Summersdreaming · 27/12/2021 13:30

I would just isolate, what difference would the pcr make? You can register the lft if you are worried about statistics.

SpringheelJack · 27/12/2021 13:32

You can certainly take him. But I'm also not sure it's worth the bother? You don't mention his age, but if he's going to be isolating with you anyway do you need a PCR to tell you he has it too? What practical difference does it make at this point?

KylieKoKo · 27/12/2021 14:27

If you want to travel in the next few months it's worth getting him a PCR. He'll get a covid recovery certificate he can use in place of being double jabbed/an expensive travel pcr test in some countries.

That’s a fair point, also if he is of an age he needs to test for school an official positive means he’s exempt from LFT testing for 90 days.

If he is really unlucky and ends up with long covid symptoms, it’s easier to be taken seriously with a positive covid test.

Generally, it’s better to have it on his health record that he’s had it.
