I don't understand? If you're doing them twice a week you must have done one before Christmas? I'd do one because of the sore throat anyway if you want, but unless you have a time machine there isn't much you can do about the past.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 27/12/2021 08:00

yes, just do it as normal then

There are a lot of nasty colds around at the moment, a sore throat could be anything.
Do the lat flow for peace of mind. You don't want to spread anything. Xx

ApolloandDaphne · 27/12/2021 08:04

Surely you do one as required?

MrsLargeEmbodied · 27/12/2021 08:06

well i didnt do one the day before christmas,
just seems worrying
but of course yes, just carry on as usual.

i did one four days before christmas,

It’s not like you would ‘usually’ do one Christmas Eve but skipped that one.

If you are following your ‘usual’ pattern then I don’t see the harm?

MrsLargeEmbodied · 27/12/2021 08:09

i missed a testing day - but yes - it would be unlucky, and even if it caught covid yesterday for example, it wont show up immediately, just go back to twice a week and stop worrying.

Well, the before Christmas ship has sailed. So you either test after Christmas or not at all! 🤷‍♀️

MrsLargeEmbodied · 27/12/2021 08:10

exactly @ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy

fingers crossed

There's no hard and fast rule you have to do one every 3 days or whatever. Just do one if you think you need to and book a PCR if you need to?

PurpleDaisies · 27/12/2021 08:16

Just do one and don’t overthink it. We’re all being encouraged to test loads at the moment.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 27/12/2021 08:34

thanks so much.
i will just carry on every 3 days
or so.
negative lft anyway.

Just do it as you see fit , I tested Christmas Day and I’ll test Tuesday evening/ Wednesday morning before I go to work .

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 27/12/2021 09:30

Do what you would do if it wasn't Christmas. I know you've done it now but just in case anyone else is wondering the same, I don't understand the question but that has to be the answer.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 27/12/2021 09:32

yes, the question relates to doing a lateral flow After the event, rather than immediately before, i gather that people were doing them immediately before but to my shame i didnt - tbh i doubt the people i was seeing would not have wanted me to cancel

I didn't see anyone Christmas Day so it's all a moot point. Christmas morning, fine... in the afternoon, my throat began to prickle. Did a LFT that evening, clear. Did one in the morning, positive. Now waiting for the PCR result.
I could easily have gone visiting (and spreading) on Christmas Day with a clear fully vaccinated and tested concience. This is why random testing creates a false sense of security and is not worth stressing over. It does filter some cases but is far from foolproof.

Slowfoxfast · 27/12/2021 09:59

It is best to do an lft just before you see people, according to things I've read as you can test -ve in the morning and +positive by the evening. so I test just before I go out, not that I'm going out very often.
