Got covid and dental pain

I am in absolute agony and feeling rotten. My husband and I tested positive for Covid on lft on 23/12 and confirmed by pcr on Christmas Eve sis we’re isolating at home.
We’ve both been feeling rotten but me more so as my chest is painful when breathing and coughing more. To make matters worse I’ve started with excruciating toothache. I first thought it was due to grinding so dug out a mouth guard. Sadly it’s got worse so much so I’m just in agonising pain and feels like my jaw/gums have swollen up.

I know no dentist will touch me while I’m isolating and recovering from covid but what can I do? Is it worth calling 111 and seeing if they can give me antibiotics as suspect I have an abscess. Between covid and this I’m not eating and just miserable.

Any advice? Sorry just feeling sorry for myself and unsure if I can survive another 5-6 days of this.

Thanks 🙏

If you speak to either a dr or a dentist they can arrange a prescription for antibiotics to tide you over until you can see a dentist.

The might prescribe a pain killer too.

Have you tried nurofen, my dentist recommended them when my teeth ached during flu about 15 years ago.

Yes, get antibiotics and then when the infection has gone and you come out of isolation, dentist can then treat the tooth, I had an abscess once and had the tooth extracted about a week after starting antibiotics as usually the infection needs to go down before dental treatment

@MoltonSilver thanks I have been taking naproxen and paracetamol. I’ve just found some cocodomol so having one of them now since last took paracetamol over 4 hours ago

I guess it’s a call to 111 to see what they can do. I’ve put in a request online and hopefully I hear from someone in about 30 mins.

Hi there. Sorry you've got toothache. I'm a dentist. Don't bother gp as they've got enough to deal with. Firstly contact your own dentist. It's likely the surgery closed today. Listen to the instructions on their answer machine.
Most likely ( depending where you are in the Uk) there will be instructions to contact NHS24. If you do so, make sure you get out through to dental triage.
Although here in Scotland, technically we can see someone for treatment if they are Covid positive, we don't really want to...

Most likely your immune system down a bit as you are unwell, so other issues glaring up. I agree that an antibiotic might help in this situation. Try and get booked with a dentist once you have recovered
