Does the NHS covid pass show if youve had and recovered from covid? Can it be used as proof of recovery does anyone know?

I know it's an accepted in the EU for 6 months! Not sure about the UK?

ecceromani · 26/12/2021 17:23

Does your covid test and the result show on your app? If so then that could be used as proof of recovery.
I'm in Scotland and my test date and result shows on app

Harrysdoneit · 26/12/2021 18:47

Yes I think it will...currently locked out until the 31st as that's when day 10 is....

it shows on the app in your vaccine travel pass area

ifonly4 · 26/12/2021 22:03

What do you hope it's valid for? DD presenting visiting us from Germany, but they won't take her back within 28 days if she test positive while here.

BlueLines81 · 27/12/2021 00:48

It’s 90 days for domestic covid pass. 180 days for travel.

Harrysdoneit · 27/12/2021 08:17

@ifonly4 it's incase dh tests positive on his pcr still for a trip to Austria......

Not all of the EU. Spain aren't currently accepting recovery certs.

@Harrysdoneit Did you find any answers on this? We currently have covid and are travelling to Austria on 08 Feb. Very unclear if we can even go and I don't understand a lot about proof of recovery certificates..

Sleepyteach · 12/01/2022 17:17

Following as I’ve tested positive today and was hoping for a HT ski trip to Austria!

Harrysdoneit · 12/01/2022 18:10

Unless they have changed the rules you still need a negative pcr test even if you have a proof of recovery. We had to change our holiday unfortunately Sad

@Harrysdoneit I’m sorry to hear this. So did your husbands pre-departure PCR come back positive? If so, I hope you don’t mind me asking, but how long had it been since he first tested positive for covid and the pre-departure PCR?

I’m curious to know how long you test positive on PCRs after recovering.

Harrysdoneit · 13/01/2022 07:25

Tested positive for the 1st time on 17th Dec still positive on PCR on 1st Jan (2 weeks) negative on lateral flow from day 6 after test. They say you can test positive for up to 90 days!! I dont know what the average is am sure most people don't.

@Harrysdoneit Wow this has worried me but good to know. I tested positive on 08 Jan and fly 09 Feb.. I assume your insurance covered it? I haven’t taken out insurance yet, worried it’s too late because we already knowingly have covid and know the risk we will test positive before flying..

Harrysdoneit · 13/01/2022 09:16

Yes all covered by insurance thankfully but we took out policy when we booked not sure they would let you now you already tested positive......you might be ok I don't think everyone would test positive for 90 days and dh was only 2 weeks after so pretty recent. I hope you get to go. Always the chance that austria will drop the pcr test anyway since omicron is widespread there now too.

@Harrysdoneit I'm going to try calling an insurance company today and just be honest about our situation and see what they say. I really hope so, I'm such a worrier I'd be tempted to do a private pcr the week before we fly as well as the pre-departure one just to get some reassurance!

And I really hope they do, I've heard they may review at the end of this month, fingers crossed!!

jpbee · 13/01/2022 09:47

@Sleepyteach Have you got anything booked yet? Hope you're feeling ok.

Sleepyteach · 13/01/2022 11:13

@jpbee nothing booked, it was going to be a last minute job. I’m less sure now though, the resort we go to has really high cases and someone on the skiing page has said there is hardly anything open there at the moment. Although I was looking for an apartment anyway so we could self cater and quieter slopes might be a bonus!

jpbee · 13/01/2022 11:24

@Sleepyteach Ah ok, which resort were you thinking of? I've contacted the hotel this morning to find out how things are there. We've booked an apartment (within a hotel) so could look after our own food, but was hoping to have most meals in the hotel restaurant.

I called a travel insurance company this morning and they said if we took out a policy today while we knowingly have covid, we wouldn't be covered for cancellation if we were to test positive on the pre-departure tests Sad

Sleepyteach · 13/01/2022 11:40

@jpbee either flachau or one of the neighbouring villages

MishkaGrizzly · 26/01/2022 19:32

A bit late to the party.. I’m in the same situation with Austria trip having recently had Covid. After searching Austrian entry requirements websites I came across the one where they say recently recovered can download medical certificate form to get it signed by a doctor that certifies you had Covid and use that instead of PCR test to avoid it coming positive. However my GP told me they’ll have nothing to do with it. Has anyone come across it ?

MishkaGrizzly · 28/01/2022 13:28

Hi, I am in similar situation. tested positive on 28th dec and going to Austria for February half term. On CrystalSki page and also on official Austrian site there a link to medical certificate to sign in case you recovered within 90 days in place of PCR that might turn positive. However who would sign it?! My GP obviously refused to have any involvement. Has anyone heard of such?

Harrysdoneit · 28/01/2022 15:18

Sorry don't know as we just didn't go! They aren't requiring a PCR now to Austria if you have had your booster though so you should be OK if you've had the third dose.
