I am aware this post is annoying to read 🙄 I had covid last month and tested neg on a lateral flow on tenth day ..i have since done lateral flows every now and then since just to make sure the virus has gone from my body and they were neg... here we are 5 weeks later and 2 days ago i began to get cold like symptoms and headache again (same symptoms that i had when startes with covid last month) done latwral flow still neg....

Is it still said that you cant get it again this quickly or is that old new now? Im meant to see mum tomorrow and shes not well and not had jabs so am worried..havnt really been out much at all if that helps...is it likely to just be a sniffly nose?

How would we know?

WandaVision2 · 24/12/2021 21:52

Nobody here can answer your question

BeLessMe · 24/12/2021 21:53

If you get new symptoms you are supposed to PCR.
I know people who tested neg on LFT but positive on PCR.
From what I’ve read, It’s possible to have omicron after delta isn’t it?

PuttingOutFires · 24/12/2021 21:54

@daimbarsatemydogsbone

How would we know?
No need for that Daimbars. OP is simply asking for clarification on the guidelines, which I can't help with I'm afraid because it baffles me.
Chloemol · 24/12/2021 21:57

If you have symptoms you need to get a PCR

That’s the only way to be sure.

Indoctro · 24/12/2021 21:58

On the Scottish covid app if you have had covid it's states your are immune to covid for 6 months from that date of your positive pcr

So I'm assuming there must be evidence to support this seems it's on your covid passport.

CiderWithLizzie · 24/12/2021 22:14

Lots of people have had delta in the last six months but have succumbed to omicron- unfortunately.

TinySaltLick · 24/12/2021 22:42

No she isn't - she is asking for a risk assessment of whether she could have covid and therefore the chance of infecting someone else. 'how would we know' is actually a responsible response - providing advice given the lack of any information on which to draw a conclusion is pretty dangerous.

Daim is correct - noone can make this decision for you, either make the call - or don't go and instead get a pcr. Anything else is pure speculation or guesswork

TinySaltLick · 24/12/2021 22:42

That was a reply to putting out fires

SnarkyBag · 24/12/2021 22:44

To be honest even without it being covid you’re unwell and should probably not visit.

PurpleDaisies · 24/12/2021 22:45

I wouldn’t want to see someone who was unvaccinated and not well if I thought I could have covid.
What does your mum want to do?

Is that recent? Omicron is causing a lot of reinfection.
Luredbyapomegranate · 24/12/2021 23:59

You need to test.

You could certainly get different strains this close together. Please don’t assume it’s a cold.

Indoctro · 25/12/2021 13:14

@PurpleDaisies yes that's current in the Scottish passport app under covid recovery section it gives you a immunity date of 6 months from date of infection

alongwayhome · 25/12/2021 13:19

No point in testing - On a pcr you're told not to test for 90 days following a positive as it will likely show positive. Just as likely to be a cold.

You’re told to test again of you have symptoms. It’s not a blanket “don’t test for 90 days”.

rainrainraincamedowndowndown · 25/12/2021 13:43

Since you have symptoms, you have something. Could be covid too, since it seems like reinfection happens more with omicron. Even with delta, there was some reinfection cases were reported.

My son tested positive at the end of July and ,test positive again last Monday ,so only five months ,I wonder if it's different with Omicron?
florentina1 · 25/12/2021 15:43

My DH tested positive 5 days ago. I have had a runny nose. Itchy throat, sore chest and vomiting. I have had two negative tests. I have heard other people say the same. I wonder if this is a different thing altogether. I don’t think many people wee reporting vomiting previous but they are now.
