Do I message my colleagues who are on annual leave to say I've tested positive?

No call from track and trace yet but I tested positive last night. I was in work on Monday with mild cold symptoms, went home as they got worse and was off sick rest of week. I saw them on Monday and they are now on annual leave for Christmas. Do I need to let them know or am I just ruining their Christmas with anxiety about maybe having caught it? I feel so guilty

Unfortunately I think you do need to tell your colleaugues. Some of those may have vulnerable parents, relatives etc. It happens, we get Covid, it's not your fault you got it. I wouldn't mention the cold symptoms on Monday.

If I'd spent time with a colleague who had found out that they were positive and they didn't tell me as soon as they'd knew, I'd be furious. Absolutely furious.

I'd so much rather have the heads-up in advance and avoid seeing CEV relatives, honestly. Tell your colleagues and let them make their own plans accordingly. You're not saving them worry, you're allowing them to make whatever decision is best for their loved ones.

@rosesarereddish

I'm 6 weeks pregnant and have morning sickness and I'm not sleeping well so I felt a bit rough but when in anyway. My cold symptoms were a blocked nose and just feeling achy. I had no reason to suspect covid at that point at all. I went home early as I started to feel really unwell. I did a PCR on my way home to be safe which came back inconclusive. I had to take another one which came back at midnight saying positive.
OP you don't owe anyone any explanation . There will always be that ONE person /COVID POLICE on here

If everyone was to isolate at the onset of a blocked nose or sniffle , no one will go to work

Take care of yourself OP and have a lovely XMAS

Hope you have a lovely Xmas

Too many snowflakes on here.

Have a good Christmas!!!!!! - just for you!! Wink[/quote]

See what I mean? Such drama calling someone a snowflake. No need. None at all.

I would just ignore the 'why did you go to work' posts. I would contact your manager but also let individual colleagues know where you can. I hope it's an easy one for you Thanks
