Has anyone suddenly started to struggle with insomnia post covid?!

Tested positive 2.5 weeks ago. I've always said sleeping was my superpower! Never had any issues getting to sleep or staying asleep.

For the last week I am struggling to get to sleep, now here I am after 3 hours sleep wide awake!

Is this a Covid issue?

Is my body reacting strongly to caffeine after 10 days of none?! 😭 Send help!

More likely the reintroduction of caffeine TBH. What time did you have your last caffeinated drink?

Egghead68 · 24/12/2021 04:01

Common in long covid

InMincePieRehabBackSoon · 24/12/2021 04:15

I had one coffee at 7am and three teas between 3pm and 7pm...

I had that for ages, really weird dreams too

CaroleFuckingBaskin · 24/12/2021 04:54

Yes, terrible sleep now. Max 3 hours. But I just make use of the time instead of desperately trying to go back to sleep. I put washing on, have a tidy up and take a cup of tea back to bed. I can then get another hour or 2

I am the same- awake at 3 or 4am every day. I haven’t had caffeine for 5 years so definitely nothing to do with that for me

LookslovelyinSpringtime · 24/12/2021 05:46

Me. My sleep is all over the place.

I move to caffeine free after 4pm

It's really getting me down!

I'm normally sleeping by nine pm straight through.

I'm now awake till One am and up again at three am.

I can't cope with it, it's crappy.

RedHot22 · 24/12/2021 06:00

The problem is that once you keep waking your body adjusts and it becomes the norm.

Trying taking a piriton at night to help you sleep through

Bobholll · 24/12/2021 07:13

I did when I actually had covid. It was annoying.. I used piriton which I find drowsy and it seemed to reset my body clock after a few days!

So sorry to hear there are many others with the same thing. It's so strange!
