I asked dd if she wanted to go to the theatre on Xmas eve, she does. She has just had covid and today is her last day of isolation. She lives with her dad and I've received this text today. Ignoring the mask bit (dd is fine with it) and if she has a neg lft would she be ok to go?

Do you think DD should be going to the theatre on Friday with her just having the virus? You would have to prove with a lateral flow test and she wouldn't be able to do one with having a positive result in the last 10 days and has to wait 90 days before she can test again and she would have to wear a mask throughout the show which she can't even do for a minute without being out of breathe

Regardless of testing, if she can’t wear a mask for a minute it sounds like she’s not well enough to be at the theatre.

Cici22 · 21/12/2021 16:04

Yeah maybe she isn't well enough for it

KrinklyBottom · 21/12/2021 16:04

I said ignoring the mask bit. I'm wondering on the legalities of it.

BTW dd is 17, and has said she'd be ok with a mask

I may be wrong but isn't there something about a covid pass being either a negative LFT or positive PCR more than 10 days ago? (He's right about her not doing a LFT for 90 days)

Is the mask rule for everyone or just people who can't do an LFT? I've lost track of what the rules are tbh

MadeForThis · 21/12/2021 16:07

You can show the email confirming she tested positive over 10 days ago.

TotheletterofthelawTHELETTER · 21/12/2021 16:11

We’re going to the pantomime on Christmas Eve. I’ve had an email today, we’re in England - have to show vaccine passport on COVID NHS App or vaccine card & photo ID or negative lft from that day or proof of positive COVID within past 90 days and outside of the 10 day isolation period.

So, based on that, she would meet the last criteria so would be able to go,

If she’s struggling to breathe with a mask on though then probably best not to really.

Fallagain · 21/12/2021 16:12

Assuming she is symptom free other then cough and loss of taste/smell then yes she can come out of isolation.

Does she have a covid pass? Is she doubly vaccinated? What are the theatre rules? (Some places have tighter rules than the law?

Fallagain · 21/12/2021 16:14

Just re- read your post. As she is struggling to breath then she can’t come out of isolation.

justustwoandmoo · 21/12/2021 16:15

Yeah she can go. You have to show a covid pass or negative LF test usually. I went to the rugby in the stadium in Cardiff and out to a cocktail bar last night and it was fine. They did check the proof I had.

Legally no reason why she can't go as long as she is well and feels up to it x

BlibBlabBlob · 21/12/2021 16:18

Jeez. Her LFTs should be negative already; they will only turn positive when you're really actively infectious. There's no reason not to do them for 90 days, other than it's a bit pointless because nobody catches COVID again THAT fast.

It's the PCR that you don't repeat for 90 days, because it could still come up positive from the remnants of the infection.

Obviously if she's still unwell, though, she shouldn't go. And should wear a mask unless she is normally exempt.

tigger1001 · 21/12/2021 17:58

We were told it was pcr tests you couldn't do for 90 days. My sons lateral flow test was negative a few days after a positive pcr.

He's been doing twice weekly lft since for school.

Blupblup · 21/12/2021 18:04

If she feels well, it should be fine. She will have a covid pass from a recent infection.
But, I had covid last month and felt crap for much longer than the 10 days and found wearing a mask difficult. So, she may not feel up to it. If you booked now, are you happy to lose the money if she's not well enough?

Overthebow · 21/12/2021 18:28

She might still test positive, but as long as she has the emailing confirming positive PCR then she can use that instead.

HobgoblinGold · 21/12/2021 22:21

I'm fairly certain she is fine to go.

Wandamakesporridge · 21/12/2021 22:34

They say no tests for 90 days, but I had Covid recently and have been doing LFTs since (all negative). I decided it’s better to do them because I could have had Delta and then catch Omicron and 90 days seems a long time not to test.

Palavah · 21/12/2021 22:45

Of course she can test again. What harm is there in her doing a lat flow on her last day of isolation, see what it says? If negative she'd be extremely unlucky to test positive again on xmas eve.

I would go.

PurpleDaisies · 21/12/2021 22:47

There's no reason not to do them for 90 days, other than it's a bit pointless because nobody catches COVID again THAT fast.

Test and trace are telling people not to use them for 90 days. That’s why I’m not.
If I get symptoms I’ll isolate and book a pcr.

PurpleDaisies · 21/12/2021 22:48

Ending isolation is not tied to testing negative. It’s whether she still has symptoms (apart from a cough or loss of smell/taste which can last for ages).
