So i know i must self isolate for 10 days - but what does this mean for my family ,? can they still go out if their LFT is coming out negative ?

Where are you? It differs greatly.

catchingzzzeds · 21/12/2021 08:57

Yes they can. They're also advised to get a PCR.

hopefulsunshine11 · 21/12/2021 08:57

Apparently, they still need to isolate even if they are vaccinated but that's Scotland. I think if the PCR comes back negative they will be ok. Definitely go for a PCR too as the LFT's are unreliable.

Thanks for your posts , we are in England

Not in England they aren't, the advice has changed to do 7 days of lateral flows instead and only PCr if symptoms develop or a LFT shows a positive.

You need to do a PCR though OP

As others have said, it depends on which country you’re in.
Have you got a pcr booked? It’s still possible that will be negative.

AllTheCakes · 21/12/2021 08:59

You need to go for a PCR test. Everyone else can still go out in England, but should LFT daily. Probably best they don’t visit anyone vulnerable in case they pass it on before a positive test.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 21/12/2021 09:00

Yes in England they can go out after daily lateral flows. My personal take on it is not to socialise or risk other people etc, but people can work, buy food, medicine etc. My DD has covid and I'm semi isolating as above.

In England your household are exempt from isolation if they are under 18.5 years, double jabbed plus 14 days or cannot be jabbed for medical reasons otherwise they'd have to isolate. They should also be lfd testing for the next 7 days as close contacts and you should get a confirmatory PCR.

superram · 21/12/2021 09:07

You need a pcr and 3 members of your household are also invited for the pcr. They don’t have to isolate but lft for 7 days.

Abraxan · 21/12/2021 10:05

You will probably find that T&T still advise family members and close contacts to get a PCR anyway, regardless of rule changes.

I would book you all in for them to be safe.

familybfive · 21/12/2021 11:53

I've been for a drive through PCR this morning , so will wait to get that official result...
