12 year old covid vaccine

Hi, just wondering if it’s too close to Christmas to get 12 year old vaccine today. I don’t want to risk him having side effects on Christmas Day. What have other 12 year old vaccine experiences been like? Obviously it’s weighing up the chances of actually getting covid too…….I’m not questioning whether he should have the vaccine at all. Both he and I agree he should definitely have it

Just a sore arm here. But everyone is different. I don't personally know of any teenagers who had side effects for more than 24hrs with their first Pfizer, but I imagine there are some. The benefits will be that getting it now will give two weeks before the return to the covid soup school.

Jensonfromtheblock · 21/12/2021 06:51

One of my teens felt awful after their vaccination and the others were fine. However even the one who felt rough was fine after a couple of days. I would just get the vaccination done and out of the way.

Bumpinthenight · 21/12/2021 06:53

No problems with my teen here and neither did her friends.

Have some paracetamol on hand just in case.

Sarahschild · 21/12/2021 06:53

I wouldn't. Why not wait an extra week just in case they have side effects?

Porcupineintherough · 21/12/2021 06:57

Neither of mine had side effects beyond a sore arm. I think if you do it today he'll be fine by Christmas - and a bit more protected by the time school resumes.

Peanut82 · 21/12/2021 06:59

My teen (14) had hers on Friday and apart from a sore arm she's been fine

Getoutofbed25 · 21/12/2021 07:49

I’d go get it now….more protection for return to school. My 13 year old and our friends didn’t have any side effects from Pfizer

Bokky · 21/12/2021 07:50

My 12 year old had no side effects other than a sore arm

Caramellatteplease · 21/12/2021 07:51

My CEV 14 year old has had 3 doses of Pfizer with nothing more than a sore arm. My 16 year of the same for 2 doses.

I'd definitely do it

ShortDaze · 21/12/2021 07:58

My 13yo had a sore arm for a day, nothing more.

ruthypfdraper · 21/12/2021 08:00

15yr old DD just had sore arm. 12 yr old DS had sore arm and was toddler level tired and grumpy for ten days.

Michellebops · 21/12/2021 08:01

Nephew had sore arm for about 24 hours and niece had no reaction.
I would get it today to start the protection asap

Lindy2 · 21/12/2021 08:01

My 13 year old felt rough the next day but was fine after 24 hours. She'd already had Covid which is probably why she reacted a bit.

ColettesEarrings · 21/12/2021 08:02

I would, they'll be in much better position going back to school in Jan.

MisgenderedSwan · 21/12/2021 08:08

I'd get it now. Everyone I know, even if they've had mild headache/sore arm has been ok with paracetamol and I would want maximum protection for return to school (🤞🏼🤞🏼)

Pensieve · 21/12/2021 08:11

I would do it, quite good timing actually. Most people who’ve had side effects seem to be fine again after 24hrs, 48hrs max. and for many it’ll be just a sore arm.

Covidclaire · 21/12/2021 08:17

I’d go get it now….more protection for return to school.

This! And the effects will start to build through the rest of the holidays giving them more protection. Do it OP!

halcyondays · 21/12/2021 08:34

I wouldn’t have it on Christmas Eve but I’d happily have it today, if he does get any side effects they’re not likely to last more than a day or so.

rainrainraincamedowndowndown · 21/12/2021 08:38

My ds13 had no side effects at all.
I think it's earlier the better, better to do it during holidays and protected for return to school.

LaChatte · 21/12/2021 09:26

12yo DD was properly ill for 48hrs (100% back to normal after that).

Delatron · 21/12/2021 09:29

My 12 year old DS had zero side effects. Not even a sore arm. It would be good to have some protection going back to school.

Deadringer · 21/12/2021 09:31

My 12 year old was absolutely fine, she didn't even have a sore arm.
