Relatives staying in a hotel

Evening

I have relatives staying in a hotel local to me through to January. They do not live in the UK. If there are lockdown restrictions, are they consigned to their hotel or can they visit me (I am a single parent, no bubble).
If there are restrictions, do you think hotels will close and what do they do with current guests? Do they reimburse them and they have to leave or do they honour the booking?
Thanks in advance x Flowers

hopeful bump

Sorry if it is an obvious question. I just don't know the answer and hoped that someone in hospitality might.

The only answer is that noone knows, it will depend on what the restrictions are if/when they are announced, the hotel, possibly even their vaccination status.

I had heard rumours of the 27th, premier lodge (did they close during lockdown or stay open for business/keyworkers?) double jabbed (Pfizer), too soon for booster.
(just in case something is announced sooner rather than later).

IIRC the last time hotels were closed for non-essential stays, guests were allowed to stay if they had nowhere else to go. Depending on your relatives' travel arrangements, that might well apply to them.

Work in a chain Hotel. We closed in the first and second lockdowns but stayed open in the 3rd for "essential travel".

When we closed we refunded all guests and they had to leave.
When we stayed open your parents would have been fine to stay as its essential them staying there or they would be on the streets. Guests weren't confined to their rooms and came and went as they pleased.

Tbh we asked on booking in if this was an essential trip and the answer "yes" was enough, never asked for any proof or anything.

Most travelodges stayed open during the lockdown as some were housing homeless people, so I don't think your guests should worry, they will have somewhere to stay if the worst happens.
