Resting heart date elevated after booster yesterday

Is this a normal response after having a vaccine?
My Fitbit says my resting heart rate is +4 bpm from my usual resting heart rate.
Anyone else have this?
Is it something to be concerned about with the reports of myocarditis? Surely it wouldn't be that quick? I had the booster yesterday morning.

I had this too - it returned to normal within 1-2 days, but the first night I felt as if my heart was thumping away! I'm pretty sure it's part of the developing immune response.

I noticed after my first dose and my booster my heart rate went up while I was feeling the side effects.

My resting heart rate often goes up or down a couple of beats per minute between days even without having had a booster. Your must too? Am sure it's fine and you are just noticing it because you had a booster.

TulipsGarden · 20/12/2021 14:31

Yes, it's normal - the same happens when you're fighting off a virus.

SecretSantaSquirrels · 20/12/2021 14:37

Are you normally anxious about your heart OP? It just seems odd that you would find a 4bpm difference something to even notice?
Any infection can affect the heart rate. Covid in particular can cause palpitations - it did to me.

I have health anxiety so getting the vaccine was a big thing for me and I went round in circles trying to decide if it was the right thing to do and possible side effects etc.

4bpm is nothing. It is very normal to have a slight increase in HR when fighting a virus/mounting an immune response. Nothing to worry about. Myocarditis usually presents with more typical acute cardiac symptoms such as chest pain, difficulty breathing etc.

Bubblty · 20/12/2021 15:04

Are you anxious about it maybe?

Mossstitch · 20/12/2021 16:33

If you have health anxiety I would ditch the fitbit! 4bpm is nothing, mine went up by over 20 bpm for months after covid (long covid - NHS) and I never considered doing anything but wait! It slowly went down but still not 'my normal' not that I've checked it for ages. Technology can feed into anxiety and make it worse💐

kittykarate · 20/12/2021 16:37

My resting heart rate moves around a fair bit between 65bpm and 70bpm. It goes to 70 ish if I'm under the weather (sniffles, insomnia, whatever) and then drifts back down when I'm well again.

I've just gone back through my stats and on the day after my jab it was 70, but was back to 'normal' by the following week.

InvisibleDragon · 20/12/2021 16:40

I think that's really normal. A slightly higher heart rate is part of the immune response - you might notice it if your have a cold or mild virus too. So it's definitely to be expected after a vaccine when your body is building new immunity to Covid.
