Could we have it again?

I had a positive test on 29th November and only got out of isolation on 10th December but since yesterday I have a terrible headache, blocked/runny nose and sinus pain. It feels like a cold, we can't do a PCR as it's within 90 days but obviously I can't just assume it's a cold!
What do we do, isolate again?! Surely you can't catch it this quickly?
I don't want to be isolating over Christmas for a cold, but would never want to spread anything if there is a chance it is.
Has anyone else been in this situation?

It's highly unlikely you've caught it again so soon. It's likely to be lingering symptoms or a cold.

Rainbowabacus1 · 20/12/2021 09:40

Are you sure it’s not just all part of the same thing? I had it at the beginning of November and still had symptoms at the beginning of December, made worse when I over exerted myself!

The rules state that you should get a PCR within 90 days of confirmed Covid infection if you have new Covid symptoms.

You don't have any of the 3 key symptoms though and your Covid infection is so recent that I wouldn't get a PCR in this situation. Treat as a common cold and stay away from people until you feel better to avoid spreading it around just before Christmas.

If anyone in your household who hasn't recently had Covid gets the same symptoms I would probably advise PCR though.

Rest up and hopefully you'll be better in a couple of days!

You could do LFTs but might not be helpful as could still be showing positive from previous infection.

It could be a cold, or post viral.
I had a cold after having Covid the previous month. At that point I was testing negative on an LFT though.

I thought of that but didn't have these symptoms, we actually didn't really have symptoms at all when positive! But I have been doing an awful lot catching up recently so that would make sense as I am bloody exhausted!!

Thanks for this, Fortunately we all had it at the same time all testing positive within a day of each other. Just me feeling unwell this time though. It's just so tricky balancing things, I don't want to miss work/Christmas etc when there's no need to but am seeing parents at Christmas so do worry!

By the way - when me and DH had covid in March last year, our symptoms went away almost completely after about a week, only to return with a vengeance about a week after that. Maybe that's what's happened with you?

Ah really, so possibly just still suffering then! Did you isolate again or is it can you no longer spread at this stage?

I had covid at the end of October, I still feel like crap most days! Headaches everyday and absolutely exhausted, I always feel like I've got a cold on its way but think that due to fuzzy headness!

sleighbellsgin · 20/12/2021 09:54

Thanks all, that's all really reassuring. I did think we might still be suffering from a few weeks ago but because we didn't really have many symptoms and this feels completely different, I've been questioning myself!
