Should he go for his booster?

DH saw a friend on Saturday (together, indoors for about half an hour), friend tested positive on lateral flow yesterday.

As per guidelines DH is lateral flow testing every day but doesn’t have to isolate as far as we understand - although he isn’t doing anything around people just to be careful.

Thing is he has his booster booked today.

He is currently testing negative and isn’t isolating. Friend hasn’t had PCR back yet. But potentially still exposed?

I think he should do a lateral flow test and go for the booster. Is that right?

I would, and did. Ds13 had covid, I had 7x daily neg lfts and 2x neg pcrs when I went for my booster. I wad only asked if I hag subroutine or had had covid within 28 days. I was not asked if I wad a current contact, I'd have answered honestly of they'd asked and I knew & accepted there was a risk they'd turn me away.

There’s absolutely nothing about not vaccinating contacts in the green book which is the advice all vaccination centres should be following.

As long as you don’t have to isolate according to the local rules, getting a booster is pretty much the best reason you can leave the house.

Ok great, thank you! That is what I thought but couldn’t find any info online.

I guess almost everyone is going to be a contact the way things are going!

He just did a lateral flow which was negative so will head on up to the vaccination centre!

Some vaccination centres seem to be going rogue but it isn’t what the official guidance says.

Legoninjago1 · 20/12/2021 09:26

Yes definitely go. Ive known 3 people in this situation recently. All went for their booster. All good.

Porthia · 20/12/2021 10:42

All done! They didn’t ask apparently!

What happens if you have a cough-no temperature? Can you still have the booster?

My friend has been coughing for a week, has no temperature, still has sense of smell and taste and it is easing. Still some coughs in day but worse at night.

Her booster is booked for tomorrow. Will she explode or something if she has it?

ColettesEarrings · 20/12/2021 10:47

If she's coughing and hasn't had a PCR they're highly likely to refuse her access to the centre!

superram · 20/12/2021 10:48

I know this isn’t your point but both DH and I have covid. I had my booster 4 days before he got a positive pcr, he couldn’t have his. Other than sneezing I feel fine, he still feels rotten. Just a heavy cold but he’s been ill for over a week.

TameDucksAtChatsworth · 20/12/2021 11:24

Yes, I thought that but she has this appointment booked for a while and doesn't want to give it up.

She has no temperature at all and never had-nothing really apart from the coughing which is getting better. Last week, I could barely hold a telephone conversation with her for the coughing but now she says it doesn't really happen in the day although still coughing at night. She certainly sounds better on the phone!

Mrsherdwick · 20/12/2021 12:04

We ask if you’ve tested positive in the last 4 weeks or have any symptoms. We don’t ask if you’ve been a contact to a positive person.

Mrsherdwick · 20/12/2021 12:06

@TameDucksAtChatsworth your friend should get tested for covid.

TameDucksAtChatsworth · 20/12/2021 12:40

Yes. I will persuade her to do so.Thanks everyone!

How on earth can she not know she needs a pcr test and to isolate?!!!
TameDucksAtChatsworth · 20/12/2021 12:57

I think it's because she was prone to catching coughs before Covid and so, because there are no other symptoms at all and it's getting better, she thinks it's just a common or garden cough.

I can see her point but I don't agree. She really wants the booster tomorrow but I think that won't happen!

She is an idiot who will put every single person she comes into contact with at risk.

I was asked if I'd had any contact.
