Is Father Christmas able to visit if we have been told to self isolate?

DD is in her early 20s but clearly worried.

Trouble is that we had planned to shop for food and presents next week, which isn't going to happen. Turkey is ordered with the butcher round the corner so he can probably be pursuaded to drop it off. Otherwise fat chance of getting a supermarket delivery.

So, even though DDs apparent belief in Father Christmas is opportunistic, she is going to be disappointed.

Happy to hear other tales of woe. I'm dreaming of a sh*t Christmas.

We are in a similar boat, had a food to go ordered but cannot collect, managed to get a lot for tomorrow from Iceland, not the biggest selection of stuff but might be worth a go? And yes he can safely put them down the chimney (they might not be laid out nicely as usual) or with his magic key.

Can you not order a couple of things on amazon prime fast delivery so she will have something to open?

Moonopoly · 19/12/2021 16:40

Amazon is your friend I would suggest.
Click and collect with a kind elf picking up for you for food? Deliveroo (if you aren’t too rural) also have Morrison’s Daily and Co op on them

MrsWooster · 19/12/2021 16:41

Father Christmas has subcontracted a LOT of deliveries to Amazon Prime Next Day Delivery Elves and wishes all isolating households a very merry Christmas.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

BestZebbie · 19/12/2021 16:42

In the worst case he could always get Rudolph or the elves to pop them down the chimney while he waits outside, I don't think either of those species catch covid.

Iceland is your friend here, I did a small shop there earlier as I couldn't face going to the shops (if you think it's a nightmare normally try it in a chair!) There were delivery slots at all times from tomorrow through to Friday.

How utterly shite for you.
I hope some MN wisdom can help.

HumbugWhale · 19/12/2021 16:48

Amazon Prime can definitely help you out here! Could you order a veg box from anywhere to go with your turkey? Could a friend/relative/neighbour get you some shopping and do a doorstep drop?

kwiksavenofrillsusername · 19/12/2021 16:55

Deliveroo and some other services do grocery deliveries. You could get a few bits.

Can you book a click and collect and get someone to get it for you and drop at the doorstep?

Amazon is expensive but ok for emergency stuff and a few treats! I’ve bought boxes of chocolates and things off there in the past.

I was also coming to suggest Iceland for a delivery. Should be able to get the basics at least.

Plus a free trial of Amazon prime for presents. Or Argos does same day delivery for many items? As long as you each have something to open it’ll be fine.
