Does anyone know someone with omicron who is unvaxxed?

And how they are?

I’m getting more and more anxious as I have a needle phobia and therefore haven’t had any jabs yet. Really scared Sad

Could somebody come with you op? Just go for it, the staff are so understanding if you explain your phobia. Honestly you'll feel so much better afterwards.

Slabadabbadooby · 18/12/2021 16:44

A work colleague of mine's daughter had it and it spread through her family. Most of them were double vaxxed, some boostered too. One adult was unvaccinated plus the children (none are old enough). All of them were fine.

I have a phobia of something else myself and I know how irrational they are but how hard they are to control. Try not to worry op. It's also incorrect that ICU is full of the unvacinnated as a pp stated.

bananaandoears · 18/12/2021 16:46

I have a needle phobia. Honestly I refused to have blood taken when I was pregnant I was that bad.

I had the vaccine - both jabs. I can honestly say you don't feel a thing - if you did there is no way I would have had the second.

Both of my siblings are in hospital in the South West. Both under 45. One never been ill before except for a uti.

Draggondragon · 18/12/2021 16:51

Vaccinated and boosted

bananaandoears · 18/12/2021 16:55

@Draggondragon how awful, hope the make a full
Recovery. I'm waiting for pcr results, I'm double jabbed but I'm so worried.

cocktailclub · 18/12/2021 16:55

As others have said being hospitalised with Covid would lead to many many more injections and blood tests, IV lines and more. Ask your GP for some diazepam and get vaccinated

greenbean99 · 18/12/2021 16:56

One of my friends is unvaccinated. She has omicron. She's totally fine - very tired and moderate cold symptoms. Starting to feel better now on day 6.

Not to say everyone will be fine but she is.

luckylavender · 18/12/2021 16:57

It doesn't feel like a needle, it feels like being date stamped.

Tangletester · 18/12/2021 17:00

Op my DS has a terrible needle phobia, but wanted the vaccine. Everyone at the vaccination centre was amazing. Gave him lots of time and a hospital bed, there was a lot of tears and one fainting episode and it took the support if three people, but he did it! Hope you manage it, I know how difficult it is.

Tangletester · 18/12/2021 17:01

He also said he didn’t actually feel a thing!

RozHuntleysStump · 18/12/2021 17:03

Ask them to tell you when it’s about to go in and take a deep breath at the same time. It’s what I always do. I find it really helps.

Queenoftheashes · 18/12/2021 17:04

I didn’t even see the needle when I got jabbed yesterday. Happens so fast it’s over as soon as you sit down.

nopuppiesallowed · 18/12/2021 17:05

One of my children is needle phobic but had to have the vaccinations (work related). She's had all three and says that they were fine - didn't look and didn't hurt. Please take someone with you for moral support and to take you for a coffee afterwards. As others have said - if you get a bad dose of Covid, needles will be the least of your worries!

XenoBitch · 18/12/2021 17:06

Not sure if it is Omicron (are people being told what variant they have?), but the unvaccinated people I know (including a whole family) who had Covid were fine (in 40s, with a teen). Mild cold symptoms.

I am not sure how this thread will reassure you though, as most replies are unhelpful comments on your phobia and nothing to do with what you are asking.

EbonanzaScrooge · 18/12/2021 17:08

My eldest daughter. She’s just turned 11 and now has a huge class outbreak thanks to a child being sent in with symptoms without a test as their parents think it’s a conspiracy. She’s very unwell and now we have a sick isolated household for Christmas.

Boofay · 18/12/2021 17:08

@Honeyhorse

If I get my first one next week though, surely I need three for protection? They keep saying two isn’t enough. So surely either way I’m in trouble?
We all had to start at the beginning. If you don't get your first jab then you can't get your second, and then you can't get your booster. Taking that first step to getting your first dose is just as important than getting a booster.

Had my booster just over a week ago and I didn't feel a thing. No sharpness, nothing. The lady was incredibly gentle. Let them know about your needle phobia and they'll help you through it.

You've got this, OP! Xxx

custardbear · 18/12/2021 17:12

Don't look, make sure your arm is very floppy and it'll be over in seconds
Good luck, my brother (ITU consultant) got it April 2020, it was him knocked off his feet for two weeks - he avoided the vaccine for a while because of PTSD of feeling the same symptoms. Naturally he felt bad with the vax (typical!) I didn't feel bad with any of mine except a bit second hand with the very first one

trumpisagit · 18/12/2021 17:14

How old are you OP?

Pinksmartie230316 · 18/12/2021 17:18

Yes, but he is 13. Two days sneezing and back to normal.

Honeyhorse · 18/12/2021 17:24

@trumpisagit I’m 32

OP posts:
Honeyhorse · 18/12/2021 17:25

@trumpisagit why?

OP posts:
MamaWeasel · 18/12/2021 17:28

Yes, a friend is unvaxxed and had confirmed covid. She was poorly, and felt absolutely awful but it was no more than a bad case of flu. She was better in a fortnight with no lasting damage.

trumpisagit · 18/12/2021 17:35

Because if you were 18 you are much less vulnerable than someone in their 40s.
