Travelling to Ireland this Christmas. Advice on testing ?

We are double jabbed (one of us is triple jabbed) and travelling to the Republic for this Christmas.

We now have to do a PCR or antigen test regardless our vaccine status.

Could someone please explain if we could use the results from PCR tests booked through the Gov website? It’s a very short window and can’t do self testing kits as it’s not accepted by the republic.

No you need to book and pay for private tests

I'm in Ireland, NHS tests not accepted, private only for both PCR and antigen (latter is cheaper, obviously)

Many thanks, yes antigen test is much cheaper but I believe it can’t be a self test ? Is that correct? Struggling to find a not self test antigen test ….

The places that do the PCR probably offer LFT as well

If you're double vaxxed you need to do a Rapid Antigen test. All the clinics places that offer a PCR test also offer this. I'm travelling to Ireland next week and have booked a antigen test for £35 at the nearest Randox clinic.
